I like NOBDs outfit, as always, but it raises a question...
Does simply moving down on the formality scale (which is obviously where OP was focused when providing examples of items that would be considered "staples") work for this challenge? If not, then wouldn't jeans rank fairly high on the list of staples? Based on the outline provided, I would innately assume that entries should be of the "MC" variety.

Also, does the little stuff count? Navy/grey socks, brown/black leather belts, etc.?

Tie is out of bounds. It hurts my soul to say so. A green might look nice there though. You know. If you have time for a quick shot.

NOBD, outstanding.

Crusty and pliny, very nice indeed. Thats what I envisioned this challenge being about.

Thank you, Stitchy. I had wanted to wear this suit for a while, and this challenge made for a perfect opportunity to work it into my current rotation. With solid white and blue out of the available selections, pink (in this case, pink hairline stripe) was the first thing that I thought of. The choice of tie was serendipitous - I had picked out a green ancient madder, which was tasteful, but dull. Today's tie was something that my late husband bought years ago, and I thought had more "pop" than my original choice of tie, so hence it got worn.

Not sure if this qualifies. Apologies for the overexposed shirt, I need to develop a way to get a softer light for those photographs.

Still unsure of my participation. Clags, even if I don't post, I want to be included in the poll. :D

I am participating in spirit. Actually wore my fit yesterday, but work has been nuts and I had to leave early, before the sun was up (no light for photos), and got home late and crashed :(

Good point in general. About the jeans specifically: I thought I read somewhere that grey trousers were okay. Jeans are the grey trousers of MC (Quite) Casual.
