FIAT considers letting Alfa go...

I was always confused by reasons they chose to go with a FWD format. For a subcompact or compact it's rather understandable if not expected. However utilizing it in a midsize Italian sedan was somewhat surprising. It's good to see they're returning to their roots.

....As for the 8C, there are very few recent cars I find as sexy, the lines are near perfect from almost any angle.

Sad news... the 159 - while developed from a Fiat-Opel collaboration - is a great car. The new Mito provides a very exciting drive for very little money. The 166/169 segment has never been an Alfa Romeo mainstay while the small coupe and sedan market have been - for decades.

I do hope something will work out (not a 169 based on a Chrysler). However, if Alfa Romeo does close its doors, I hope they do so with a stunning 8C finale.

8C a beauty but limited production if I recall. Why? The ride was reputedly rock hard though I have never driven one.

The rest of the range is not really appealing the Mito and 147 are uglier in the flesh, the Brera looks beautiful but couldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding (British saying meaning weak). The 159 and GT are the best of the bunch but getting old now.

This is essentially how I feel, other than the 8C, the remaining models do little to stir my emotions.

Note to the Fiat CEO, keep Alfa Romeo and kill Chrysler as brand.

Sad news, if true. I always thought that Alfa's compact, mass market cars were the best looking cars in Europe.
Aside from talking about super sport, GT and other luxury cars (which are admittedly gorgeous) I have to say that the disappearance of Alfa will bring down a notch the overall look of European car market.

They are a lot cheaper than BMW and Audi.
