Camel Lights was my regular brand. I was a pack a day from age 19 to about 29, smoked on and off throughout my 30's and quit for good last year (age 38). The book that did it for me was Easyway to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. Doesn't bother trying to scare you with all the health statistics, just systematically cuts down all your rationalizations for not quitting.

American Spirit Perique - I prefer to roll them myself because the packs dont seem to move fast enough and get dry and harsh.

Nat Sherman MCD and Classic (Red)

But lately I've taken to rolling (got a rolling box) and I got some D&R tobacco. Apparently they're a pretty big deal for the whole online roll your own people, but anyway, I got a straight double toasted burley that tastes more or less like lucky strike and a 100% izmir turkish oriental blend. I should've gone with a Virginia so I could go for straight up typical american cigarette flavor, but the burley and turkish is really nice.

The turkish is so smooth on the inhale, nothing, and then just spicy smokey goodness on the exhale.

Are Dunhills available in New York city ?

The province where I live in Canada stopped selling a few years ago and I'd like to buy some while visiting NYC.

Top-O-Matic + Good Stuff Tobacco. "Hand" rolled. Best rolling machine ever. I can churn out 100 cigs in a half hour or so, and they all smoke flawlessly. I spend maybe $15 every two months on Tobacco now.

Rolling machines are ****. Just learn to roll it yourself, I can't imagine whipping out a little box and putting my papers and filters and tobacco in it.

True, most rolling machines are ****. This however, is a motherfucking rolling factory. You don't put papers and filters in it, you put pre-made tubes. You loosely pack some tobacco in a slot and pull a lever, and bam, perfect cigarette pops out. I'm all for hand-rolling. But I'm also all about flawless cigarettes conveniently ready for me whenever I want. Put on a movie, sit and make a bunch, and you're set for a few weeks. (I really only smoke a couple a day anymore.) Load up your cigarette case and you're set. No need to carry around papers and loose tobacco. Like I said though, $14.99 for a pound of Tobacco. Lasts me awhile. Tubes are $1.50 for 200. Machine was $30. Considering even pouches hand-rolling tobacco can go for as much as $8.00 in some areas, the math makes it quite obvious what will save you money. You can only get ~30 - 40 cigs out of a pouch.

^What type of tobacco do use? I've been thinking about switching back to rolling to save money, but I do prefer the convenience and hand feel of filtered tubes. Like you, I don't smoke more than 2-3 a day (and on some days not at all), but I can see this saving me money in the long run.

They're filtered. They feel exactly like a store-bought cigarette in every way. Maybe a mm or so wider, but not a 'wide' at all either. Believe me, the very, very slight inconvenience of using the machine (which is actually kind of fun) is worth the savings... Is 5 minutes of your time worth another $8 or whatever it costs for a pack? Plus this way you can be really generous with bumming them to people, which is a great conversation starter since you can say you roll them yourself, and right off the bat you're a generous guy. Sounds dorky but that happens to me constantly. "Can I bum one?" "You got it." "Aw yeahhh, thanks man! What kind are these?" etc I get "Good Stuff" from here. Usually light or ultra light, as they can be a little strong. It says 'pipe tobacco' due to a legal clause where cigarette tobacco gets taxed insane rates as opposed to pipe tobacco. To keep the price down they have to legally refer to it as pipe tobacco. The most recommended tube are Zens, but many others will work, some better than others. I've used Zig Zags with no problems. I used to smoke Camel Lights if it's of any relevance. I usually smoke Good Stuff/Light or Ultra Light with a Zen light tube. I'm not into strong cigs like I used to be, but these are pretty close to Camel Lights. Also I'm in no way affiliated with any of my recommendations. But as someone who had my doubts about making my own cigarettes, I try to make it known to others it's very, very worth it.
