Best fish meal on Earth: pickerel you just caught done "shore lunch" fashion on the shore of some nameless island in the middle of a Canadian Shield lake

And yeah, bungs are, well...bungs.

I have had John Dory a few times. Very good.

Langoustine is also very good. Not really a fish. But it is seafood!

Smallmouth Bass
Northern Pike

We have a cottage about an hour South of Sudbury, my family has been fishing Georgian Bay for nearly a century. I grew up eating this fish fresh from the lake, and it's incredible - floured then fried in crisco and butter. Only getting to enjoy it once a year as a kid growing up made it taste even better, even to this day.

Walleye at Lola was one of the better fish dishes that I've ever eaten.

Honestly, my favorite fish is whatever I just caught. There is both honestly and inexperience in that statement. But otherwise, I really love marlin.

x2. I caught some gulf whiting the other day. I guarantee you have never had them in a restaurant or seen them at a fish market. They have excellent white meat, in the drum family.

My favorite fish is pompano. I' m lucky to live near a place where you can catch them in good numbers in the spring.

Spanish mackerel is another favorite and are beyond abundant most of the year here.

Now that this thread was bumped, I really crave a good bouillabaisse with Mediterranean rock fish, or a caicos lobster... :fu: there's no great bouillabaisse in NYC, but I think I'll make a reservation at Aquagrill, the only decent one I can think of
