I'll just let this fact stand on its own: Leather Soul's latest SC MTO offering, the PC Boot, is $2,300 with lasted trees.

That's my boot. Well worth it IMO.

Not only that, and despite SC's skill, I think Cordovan leather is generally better suited to our American shoe companies, with very few exceptions, and SC is not one of them.

My best cordovan shoes are from EG- much nicer than any Aldens I've owned.

They're meant to be my snow boots and will look better and better when broken in. I originally ordered a rubber, knobbed outsole, but they got lost in the process.

True. Don't get me wrong, I like Aldens, but they have REAL quality control problems. To me, the Sandringhams above are an anomaly.

He left to start Zonkey. Their stuff might not be to people's taste on this forum, but they're really nice (some even quite conservative) when you see them in person.

zonkey stuff i've seen online is kinda funky. i'm guessing that's the point =)

The Zonkies are made in the Veneto region of Italy. (according to the web site).

Sort of explains their vibe - Owners in Vienna, Plant in Italy.

My inlaws live in this part of the world........wonder if I can track down where they are made next time I go.

Speaking of EG quality control, I ordered an antique burgundy belt and they sent me one that resembled nightshade after 2 months of wait time so I have to wait another 2 months.
