Dark Oak always has been one of those with a wide variation in colour. I’ve got some that are very dark and some that are near to Burnt Pine in colour. Using a very dark brown (eg Saphir Espresso) cream will darken them over time.

If you are interested in bringing out the red tones, might I suggest cognac?

Shoe care question: below are pics of some weird staining along the quarters of my Dovers. I can't figure out what it is (nothing I can think of happened to them) but somehow it's on both shoes in roughly the same spot. Have tried wiping down with a damp cloth and then a little bit of Renovateur, but neither changed anything. Any guesses what's going on, and suggestions for how to clean it?

It looks very much like water or some other fluid caused staining. Best to use a coloured cream polish INE

I was the only idiot on the street today taking a picture of my shoes in the rain.

On the bright side, the weather is now suitable for the Cranleighs.

Little do those peasants know my waxed Utah leather and storm welt construction protect me from the elements so I can take all the photos I want! 😂
