ebay suits, sportcoats, and other clothing

Does the test say that 2 hole buttons implies a suit, and 4 holes a sportscoat? Or is it visa versa?

Two in sportcoats. Though I was told today over at AA that this no longer holds true for the newer ones. I haven't looked, myself. (My navy blazer has four, but I think that's a function of the metal buttons, rather than a reflection on the validity of the formula.)
