If you want a fan that lasts and works, get a Vornado.

Can someone explain how the Dyson works? The website is pretty vague, describing an "airfoil shaped ramp". Does the round part spin? If so, how do the oblong ones work?

Actually I have heard about Dyson bladeless fan in 2009, and I really love the design, but it’s too expensive! You know what, this concept is for cooling extrusions in a factory and not his “invention”. But he named it the Dyson fan anyway. The name and the price tag gave me the impression of ego and greed, which may not be true at all. He believed that it would sell even if way overpriced. He is right. Some people are buying it. But I think he would be much smarter and reasonable if he priced it under $100, and he would be benefiting more people and making much more money that way, and people would think much nicer of him. and everyone will be happy. After all, an invention should be to benefit as many people as possible, and not just a few immature adults who like toys such as myself. i bought a mini bladeless air multiplier on SpeMall.com for only $40, it's cute and i think it's worth for the money, maybe you guys should have a look, here's a link for your refer:http://www.spemall.com/Bladeless-Fan_c.html

I've always wanted one but couldn't justify paying that amount of money for what it is. If it would be aluminum I would be sold instantly but the plastic albeit good plastic, is still...well...plastic and that sort of clashes with everything in my desk area.

Also i'd probably get distracted from work and constantly play with it for the first few weeks, but that has to do with me.

I like the fans...I would buy one if they were double the price of a normal fan (even a vornado) but at the ridiculous prices, I just can't justify it.

There really are some innovations going on in there and it makes a lovely whoosh of air rather than the choppiness of a small fan.
