Though it's not necessary, I put on a suit and tie to go to the polls today. Something about respect for the importance of our civic duty. (I work from home, so I tend to overdo it on the rare occasions I escape my cage and interact with other human beings.)

How about you?

I always wear a suit anyway even to go downtown for shopping...

It's refreshing sartorial America is still standing up for the triumph of great suitings over casual Walmart Chinese made crap...

The idea of show respect in accomplishing the civic duty makes sense. But as I want to be the first the line to vote, I was dressing shorts, tennis shoes and the t-shirt used to sleep when arrived sunday morning to elect our new President.

A chiton with mandals, out of respect for the brief period of Periclean democracy.

I, too, wore a suit and tie to go vote. Was complimented by the seniors at the polling place, too, though it was my least favorite compliment: "snazzy".

Well, I was being sarcastic, really. This kind of attitude has lead to the many problems in the American society, not just the dressing well part. While suiting up in order to buy groceries is definitely overkill, not looking like you just got out of bed is a start. But I really don't want to get into that.

I'm with the OP here, although I'd probably wear a shirt and slacks since it would be too hot for a suit in L.A.

I vote absentee ballot. I haven't ever gone to the polls (poles) (poals) (pohls). From what I've seen, I'm not missing much.
