Curious to see what the breakdown is here. Feel free to discuss your thoughts about being a homeowner vs. renting, etc...

I sublet a condo in a nice building, which is nice because I don't have to deal with the regular renting an apartment issues and I also get a significantly better value (I'm spending 30% less than I would on an equivalent rental).

I own my condo.

It's good that I'm not throwing money away in rent. I'm also only 23, and pay almost double in mortgage what my friends are paying in rent, which is pretty ******, but I guess in the long run I'll be better off.

Edit: I live in Charlotte, NC.

I live in West Virginia, and am currently renting, but my fiancee and I are looking to buy when she moves in (early-June). Around here, you can get a lot more house for the money than you can get by renting an apartment. Maybe it's the fact that it's a college town, maybe just the incredibly low cost of living.
