Just purchased the Marlow wingtips and am looking for sizing opinions. Purchased a size 9 and my last two toes basically touch the sides of the shoe. I'm used to a Barrie last which is a bit roomier. Problem is, my foot doesn't have a lot of volume so while a 9 1/2 is more comfortable in length, my foot won't fill the shoe. Basically, with the eyelets tied as close as possible, they're still loose. Can I expect to gain some room as the footbed molds or am I better off using an insole in the larger size? Any help is greatly appreciated. One more thing . . . I noticed the eyelets are not even. Noticed this to be case in some shoes posted here. Is this very common?

Yes, a Barrie lasted Alden shoe is probably at least half a size larger and wider than the Marlow.

I would consider using a wider and larger sized shoe tree with springs to stretch the shoe. Crockett and Jones cordovan shoes are prone to stretching way more than any Alden shoes; this is a fact that was confirmed to me by the gentlemen at Sky Valet in Washington. I was curious because my first trusty old pair of Marlow loafers were stretched half a size in this fashion when I borrowed shoe trees that were larger and wider, while on vacation. Since learning this, I have successfully/ purposely stretched a couple of new C&J shoes purchased new and small on sale. I would not expect the footbed's molding to your foot to drastically affect width. I hope this provides some assistance.

I cannot really speak to the eyelets. What do you mean by "not even"? Cheers.

Thanks so much. That is really helpful. I'm going to follow your advice. By not even, I mean when you look at the left and right eyelets they are not straight across from each other but rather at an angle because the eyelet "flaps" we're not sewn evenly.

This photo shows what I mean.

Glad to assist. Perhaps others will respond about the sizing issues and possible stretching methods/advice. You will likely be hard-pressed to stretch beyond 0.5 to 0.75 of a size; I am not really sure about the width stretching limitations. It may be worth searching other threads. Best of luck.

How'd you get the discount to show up? I see the Lindricks listed as 30% off but it's not reflected in my shopping cart. The card I got in the mail says that the pre-sale (plus additional 15%) is Oct 24-30, but at ralphlauren.com/presale it says now through Oct 30. Is it active?

Also, having read through the entire thread studying sizing advice for the Lindrick, it sounds like the right move is to size down 1/2 but I'm all over the place on sizing. I wear a 9EE in the AE 5 last, but an 11D in the Red Wing Beckman. The Lindricks are D-width only, so would a 10D be my best shot at getting the fit right?
