The fact that Spoo let his Lindricks get to this level of shite has lowered him a small notch in my mind. Granted, at least he realized and is addressing it, and props to capn for bringing them back to their former glory as well as making this a great demonstration of how resilient shell is, but part of the point of being a gentlemen is to care for ones things.

Spoo has been known for quickly rampaging through things but to let some highly prized beauties like these (as well as the rest) get this bad doesn't really reflect well. One has to wonder if the Ferrari's oil change and maintenance regimen is as neglected...

Why do you feel the need to judge? Perhaps you should walk a mile in his shoes before doing so? Maybe Spoo's time is better spent caring for his family, making his daughter laugh or growing his business? The fact a few pair of shoes are not in perfect condition is hardly the drama you made it out to be.

Agreed, knowing the time it takes to do what Spoo does (but on a much smaller scale), I can see why he would prefer to have someone else do it.

(I just wrote a bunch of defensive crap and deleted it to instead say this...)

While I still think my earlier points are valid (and have nothing to do with whether he does them himself or has someone else do them) I'm going to retract my sentiment for one simple reason: it occurred to me that the only reason I'm making it is because cap'n is sharing the process. If Spoo had sent them to XYZ, or capn had performed his magic quietly, there would be no pics and I wouldn't have anything to comment about.

Rather, I realized that if somebody posted pics of my shoes at the cobbler, or my clothing getting repaired at my tailor, one could make similar - unfair and unwarranted - comments.

Sorry for the aside, the leather on my shoes tastes much like I remember it tasting; carry on.

Guys, lets not worry about my shoe maintenance (even though you are right)... this thread is about Cap and his wonders on shell.

Great question. My brushes are somewhat soft, but with some stiffness. I would say medium stiffness. My set is from Allen Edmonds.

Thanks. The reason I ask is that although I have both, I've had greater success with stiff-bristled brushes than the soft. I use a fairly light touch though and it seems to do the trick. I love how the lustre of shell is restored this way!

Another question, what do you have on in the background while you're doing the brushing - music, the tv or something else?

but Razl is right - I did neglect them - but I have legit like 5 minutes of free time in a day. Which is why Im so pleased that cap is doing this, so I can continue about my routine and have wonderful shoes just as if someone with time and polishing talent would have.

Send him your shoes and lets get some more before and afters!

I don't judge a man by the condition of his shoes but when I see someone wearing unpolished shoes, my first thought is: Give them to me for one night and you won't believe the results

I was in Military Police (not US), the most valuable thing I learned were polishing shoe and iron clothes. Sadly to say I'm too lazy to use the Mac Method these days, I use cream probably 4 times a year, and shell are my go to beat up pair for bad weather...
