Beyond the superficial variances of details and responses to different physiques, the main divergence is that iammatt's aesthetic has a strong Californian streak to it, heavily spiced with life-long familiarity with luxury goods, while yours is more of an adopted vibe of Eastern collegiate style.

The fact that your style has a measure of adoption to it is one of the reasons why your opinions have a didactic edge to them. You've thought about it a lot.

In iammatt's case, I don't believe he actually thinks. (About style, that is...)

That both of you have chosen Neopolitan tailors to express these aesthetics often confuses others. American things draw both of you back often...and this is most easily seen in purely American items popping up in your ensembles, which are a measure of the underlying style.

When I see photographs of guys who are attempting to imitate, or shall we say, are inspired by iammatt's style, they often seemed focused on the Italian-ness of it. In reality, they miss the fact that the inherent style is very American, as yours is.

When went to I post this in WAYW a week or two ago, I was struck by the similarity to Matt's pics. The pose, mostly, but other elements too. Matt then proclaimed it his favorite of my WAYWs.
