Hi all,

I assume many others on this forum will have a larger appetite for clothing than they do space to store said clothes. I wondered, do you have a system for keeping things manageable? Perhaps storing items in particular ways for part of the year, or getting rid of some based on pre-determined rules about when you last wore it, or whether it currently fits?

I did a search of the forum but could only find a thread of pictures of peoples' wardrobes. I guess what I am asking here is more Marie Kondo than Lloyd Wright.

I used to have to do a seasonal rotation - moving heavier suits/jackets/overcoats into the wardrobes in a spare room, and also putting sweaters in storage bags for summer; but now have enough space to keep everything in my dressing room. What I do now is to operate a pretty strict one-in-one-out policy for almost everything. There are very few actual "gaps" in my wardrobe so mainly I am replacing / upgrading things as I go. The goodwill store near me takes in all my old stuff

Hey there,

Managing a wardrobe with limited space can indeed be a challenge! Personally, I've adopted a few strategies to keep things manageable. Firstly, I rotate my clothes seasonally, storing off-season items in vacuum-sealed bags to save space. Secondly, I regularly declutter my wardrobe using the Marie Kondo method - if it doesn't spark joy or if I haven't worn it in the past year, it's time to let it go. Additionally, I've set up a rule for myself: one in, one out. If I buy something new, I have to part ways with something old to maintain balance.
