I have a pair of dior black suede dress shoes that are one of my favorite items in my wardrobe. I have removed the laces from them and where them with everything from my tuxes, prince of whales suits, and especially jeans and a button down.

I would like to see if I could find a shoe maker to copy the shoes and make me some with different leathers etc. How would I do this and come up with shoes of equal quality?

Buy a new pair of Dior in that style or close to it, it will be a helluva lot cheaper than going to a bespoke shoemaker. BTW - wear <-> where. Know the difference :p.

Al's Attire in San Francisco, E. Vogel in NYC, DW Frommer II in Oregon, Ron Rider in Virginia, or Alfred Sargent's MTO program would be my suggestions. There's also a new shoemaker in LA profiled here and on Jesse Thorn's Young America.
