Cleaning of Bespoke Cotton Chinos / Suggestions for Fabric

I’m wondering whether it’s worth having bespoke cotton chinos made for everyday, casual wear given their need for dry-cleaning.

A tailor who recently made some dress trousers for me (Holland & Sherry wool) here in Colombia carries cotton (also by Holland & Sherry) with which to make my chinos. I asked him if the trousers could only be dry-cleaned, to which he answered yes.

With wool trousers, upkeep is easy since dry-cleanings are infrequent. How often would I need to dry-clean my bespoke chinos? As often as I wash my jeans and other casual cotton trousers — about every 6 or 7 wears? Even though the tailor and I didn’t discuss it, is hand washing / ironing an option as well? Again, with the same frequency?

Most off-the-rack chinos are machine wash, hang to dry (suggested), and minimal ironing, as far as i can tell.

Or perhaps there’s a wool weave or blend that I can get (Fall/Winter/Spring weight) that will be (almost) as rugged as cotton but with less frequent cleanings. Corduroy is also an option, but not my first choice since it's slightly less versatile sartorially.

(By the way, my bespoke trousers with cotton by H&S would be about US$220, including taxes: bespoke is typically cheaper than premium off-the-rack, especially given luxury taxes here.)
