Adding to the OP's question, what socks and belt would be appropriate for the combination he put forth?

With what shirt and jacket?

Generically, grey socks and a brown (preferably suede) belt. I'd try to use socks that also have a touch of the color of your shirt or jacket.

Yay, yea, however it is properly spelled.

I would steer away from the cream shirt though, myself.

Nay. I think that it's a style "No-No." However, many seem to think that it's fine, so you don't have to worry about standing out.

Learn it, live it, love it:

Perhaps Americans do it too much, perhaps Brits not enough, but the best dressed men have worn brown suede shoes with dark gray slacks for generations. Certainly not worn for big banking and big law, and not for big funerals, but a small timer's funeral would be fine.

I never wear brown shoes, period and I personally hate suede shoes, but I wouldn't tell somebody not to do it because it does in fact look good. Just because there are rules and you personally wouldn't do something doesn't mean it is wrong. It is obviously something this guy likes and I think it wouldn't look ridiculous to sport it.

The combination of the very informal shirt with smooth-finish worsted trousers and balmorals is a little jarring.

I was afraid of that. I think the whole look works, with the one wild card being the shirt. Any thoughts on a shirt that would work well with the rest of the outfit?

My opinion is that anything as whimsical as that shirt needs to be done either as an accent (tie or pocket square) with more formal pieces. If done as something so prominent as a shirt, it needs to be paired with other pieces of similar informality (e.g., jeans, cords, etc.)
