Just purchased the Barbour Border in Sage. I can't see anything mentioning where this jacket was actually made. My wife has the Barbour Bendnell and it clearly says on her label "Made in England".

Does anyone know?.

I thought only the non-waxed jackets were made outside of the UK.

None of the tags on the jacket has any mention of where it was made.

They also make some in Tunisia.

It seems like when the item is made in England, it's stated prominently on a tag on the collar.
When it's made somewhere else it's on a little white tag inside a pocket.

Waxed jackets can be made either in England or elsewhere. The owner of the shop at which I deal has been sending back the non-UK made jackets to Barbour. He says that in any shipment there is a mix of origins of manufacture

:lurk:

Learnt that it might be made in Newcastle, UK. Waiting for a reply from head office.

What would you do if Barbour HQ wrote back and said "China"?

I believe my Bedale has a MIE tag at the collar (will double-check tonight). If your jacket is untagged, or the tag is not placed somewhere visible, I would assume the worst.

Return it :)

Have no issue with products made in China, but when a brand promotes their wax jackets being made in England, the sales assistant tells me it's made in the UK but when I get home I find out its made outside of the UK; damn right I'm returning it. I'm better off buying a used Border on eBay.

Here is the proper home of Barbour:

I used to work just along the road. I would occasionally visit the factory shop, as good bargains could sometimes be found - slight seconds, for example.
