Got these at the Christian Kimber pop-up today. He gave me a really good deal on these samples, lucky have the same shoe size. Still deciding on whether or not to darken the straps, but these are one-of-a-kind apparently. Also grabbed a couple of the 'Melbourne' pocket squares.

The jacket he's working on looked pretty neat too.

Nice one! I got those but with the olive backstrap. I'm wearing them today. Did he spray the suede protector on as well?

I need a new suit - is there much a difference between Oscar Hunt and Suit Shop? They both seem to offer basically the same price point for similar quality.

I'm also thinking of getting a suit made suit for Travelers' Apparel (they do a MTM/bespoke option where it's all made in Melbourne).

Any help would be appreciated (I know I'm probably thinking about this too much too)

I wouldn't mind knowing that either. Anyone who has both who can give their 10c?

Any of you aussie blokes use Proper Cloth for shirts? Thinking of giving them a shot because I really like some of their collars but the $30 shipping fee definiately caught me by surprise, especially when that's $30 USD.

I've used Luxire a fair bit and my pattern is good but I find their website pretty awful to browse and there just seems to be something a bit off and uncomfortable with my shirts that even I can't pinpoint.

Gents,

What are your thoughts on wearing grenadine ties to job interviews? Context is a mid to senior role in financial services IT.

Eg, HC's latest burgundy looks presidential in colour and tone, but do people associate that weave with less formal situations, or even potentially distracting in forming that overall first impression?

Also like the look of their collars. Have often been tempted but never pulled the trigger.

Would be fine. Don't think they will make a note in the assessment 'wore grenadine, should have known better'.

Anyway, nice shoes, tie, suit and shirt will probably put you so far ahead of the pack it won't be funny. Winning smile and I reckon you're there.

My thought is that they don't give a phuck.

On the scale of 1-10 IT is about a -2 on style. It's a cliche for a reason.

I do - pretty happy with them but took a few orders to get the measurements just right. $30 shipping is a bit rough - at the moment they can't ship direct from India to Australia, they go India-NY-Australia

Also, Brisbane members, could just do somewhere simple? Even somewhere like Jimmy's on the mall (it's ok since the renovations). Though I'm not sure if people will be eating etc/wanting something nice food wise. I'm open to anything, just thought I'd get the ball rolling since it is Tuesday.
