thanks

It's just a suit from H&M (www.hm.com). Just realize that H&M suits are not quality suits and what it looks like on Paul Walker (who is he?) in a GQ photo shoot is not what it will look like on you.

I think with watches, like with everything else in life, you sometimes need to buy a little more than you can afford to truly enjoy wearing/driving/etc it. Often, an expensive watch just gives you pleasure and you really don't care if anyone thinks you are richer because of it. That's my take on this. By the way, try the following website; I bought a $1000 watch from them for about 2.5 cheaper than it was on Amazon or the like...

watch.1saleaday.com

Now, a question of my own. Do you think these shoes are worth the price and are they good enough to be the general dark brown shoe to wear with everything type?

Thanks!

I wouldn't personally brush these type of sweaters as your risk 'piling' the material. A better option is to buy one of those sticky tape clothes rollers from all good retailers and gently rollering fluff and dust off, that way you aren't creating a lot of friction.

I'm trying to find a relativley inexpensive navy blazer, the problem is finding one without massive padded and "sharp" shoulders. Any ideas? (Ideally, under $250)

Even though these shoes are relatively inexpensive, they do not represent good value for your purchase. They are poorly constructed and will not hold up well. Most of the older members of the forum, especially those with knowledge of shoes, give Hugo Boss shoes low grades for quality and durability.

I would recommend you look elsewhere. My suggestion would be to try Pediwear. They have excellent shoes and good prices. I would look at the Crockett and Jones shoes first. You might pay more than you had anticipated if you were looking for something under $100 USD. I think you will be rewarded in the long run if you decide to invest a little more money.

Does this meet your requirements?

It is an Arnold Brant cashmere navy blazer available at Sierra Trading Post for around $278. I purchased one a few years ago and have enjoyed it tremendously.

or do I also need something smoother/shinier, like these from Brooks Brothers?:

I dont want a bunch of redundant items in my closet. Im trying to keep everything at a minimum, but I want to have all bases covered.

I prefer the Brooks Brothers belt. I think it will be more versatile.

Why on some dress shoes, there are metal pieces for the front and the back? I hope this questions not too vague...

I assume it's protect the shoe in certain areas from wear and tear...but not positive...

I once kicked some asshole in the groin and the metal inserts came in handy. After that, I'm certain that is why they put them there. For self-defense.

jcriswel: thanks for your input, what would you recommend then? Do you think getting a $200 shoe is wiser than getting this pair and then something else when they die? Style-wise, are they acceptable for a multitude of occasions? Thanks!

I would recommend that you raise your price point. This might sound overboard to you, but I suggest you consider spending $400 USD. When you move your budget up to this level you enter the realm of true quality shoes. Shoes in this price range typically have a Goodyear welt, are sewn as opposed to glued, have better stying, and have superior upper leathers. All of this translates to a shoe that will last ten or more years if properly cared for. The Hugo Boss shoes might last a year depending on how frequently you wear them. If you amortize the cost over ten years versus one, I think you'll see a different picture with regard to cost of ownership.

If you select a brown pair of derbies/bluchers, they will meet your requirements for a multitude of occasions. Typically, one wears oxfords/balmorals with suits and derbies/bluchers with jackets and trousers (business casual). The latter will also work for more casual attire like jeans/khakis, sports shirt, and jacket.

Consider these:

What is the difference in construction between C&J Handgrade and Benchgrade shoes.

I notice that under the Handgrade section they state the shoes have Oak Bark Soles, what soles are the Benchgrade shoes using and are they of lesser quality.

Secondly how big is the difference in construction and materials quality between Loake and C&J - Living in Australia my only shoe options are what is available on the internet so these are the only two brands that I can realistically purchase. Loake is half the price of C&J, does that translate to half as good? etc.
