How does Allen Edmonds sizing usually run? If I am a size 11 on a brannock device, will I be size 11 in an AE dress shoe (I take it that would be TTS)? Or how much would AE typically be off?

For classics, I agree with Biggskip, and would suggest you check out The Hound on Sutter, maybe Brooks (esp. for shoes), Ralph Lauren, Hickey Freeman. Alden for shoes. Allen Edmonds if you like them.

If you like hats, http://www.goorin.com/, and http://www.hatworksbypaul.com/

Thanks guys! A lot of those stores are very close so I'll be checking them out.

I'm looking for men's classics but also open for SW&D clothing as well. I'll check out your recommendations as well, thanks a lot!

In the fabric section, that place in the back corner of Walmart, or in or around the arts and crafts section of a similar store.

Can someone help with identifying the style of these PRL pants (preston, regent, etc)? The ebay seller responded only by saying that the tags gave all the necessary info.

I've been looking for a medium gray wool pant in 38, and since HY and other sf members seem to be out of that size, I'm looking a little blindly. If anyone has suggestions for where to go for pants like this at this price, please post.

Normally Polo would have the line name on the tag itself, yet the spot for the line is blank on these pants. They may be a one off that is not associated with a line.

IIRC the Preston and Dalton lines are 100% wool, I do not know of a PRL line that is a mix with cashmere.

Interesting. I wonder if this makes it more of a risk. Should I wonder about the quality of this item, since there's no name, or would it generally be a pretty safe purchase?

Quick question about shoes and/or socks:

When going out I typically like to wear dark (raw-ish) denim, a shirt+tie, and a sweater. I have three pairs of captoe dress shoes (2 black, 1 burgundy). In the past I have worn the black shoes with black dress socks. If I was to wear the burgundy shoes, what color socks should I wear?

I also feel captoes are a bit too elegant looking, but they "dress up" my outfit. If I want a more casual look, what kind of shoe should I look for?

Anything but black? Gray, solid or patterned would be all right. You could go with navy. Honestly, I would personally avoid the black socks with the black shoes as well (unless these are black dyed jeans?). you could work on some nice color with the black shoes, red/burgundy, patterns, maybe pick up a secondary color from the tie.

Derbies (bluchers), and the whole universe of brogues.
