I'm tired of dress shirts that are crap. I think I want to get some rlpl shirts in the upcoming gilt sale, but I don't have any experience with the brand.
How's the fit? (I'm 6 foot, 170 lbs, athletic build)
Could a tailor easily slim them up if need be?

I'm looking for a fairly priced over coat for the winter. I'm looking to spend no more than $400 and I'm looking for a peacoat in black or grey. Any help would be appreciated.

What seems to be the consensus, point collars or spread collars?

Why one over the other?

regular tie vs. slim tie? same question

There are all widths of collars between a wide spread and a closed point, but I think the consensus here would be toward a moderate spread. Some say rounder faces should go with point, while thin or long faces should go with a spread. The idea is the horizontal or vertical angles of the collar will offset the face making it appear more balanced. Some think this is hogwash and wear whatever they like.

Generally, tie width should be the same width as your jacket lapels.

Please help me pick an outfit for a semi-formal ball, suit is charcoal gray. Black shoes and belt. I'm Asian, black hair.

The people there are going to be students (Law School, Dental School, Medical School event)

These are the rest of the ties that I have if you guys think it might be better than what I chose.

I might go with the pink tie on the dark red shirt, if I choose to wear dark red shirt again. I also have a white shirt and a light blue shirt but I think they are too boring.

Personally, I like your second pic... but I'm just a small-timer.

The last one looks the best, imo. However, I'm not too sure about those hats

How do C&Js sizes convert to US sizes? If I am an 11.5D in Allen Edmonds, what would this be in C&J size? An 11E I'm thinking?

Different collar spreads flatter different face shapes. Broadly speaking, a spread collar flatters a wider, more circular face while a point collar flatters a taller, more oval face. One of Flusser's book has some good illustrations of this. And, of course, there are always exceptional cases.

Tie widths are more of a fashion thing. Roughly speaking, stray outside of the 3-3.5" width with your tie and you are making some kind of fashion statement.

There should be a pretty fair amount of discussion on both topics here available with the appropriate search keywords.

Going down a half size and up a width is the general method of converting to the UK size, but of course, this does not account for the intricacies of each last so it is always best to try them in person.

Please don't wear a dark red shirt (or any dark shirt for that matter) again. The least offensive of your combinations is the first. I recommend wearing the white shirt with the lavender tie in the third pic - or preferably another solid tie in a darker color.

Also, your shirt collars look very big on your neck. You should probably get a smaller size.

I know almost nothing outside Streetwear and Denim.

I have basic oxfords from gitman brothers vintage and rrl in white, blue, pink, and grey. Buying some allen edmond parks avenues and two pairs of wool pants (light grey and charcoal), do you think this is enough for a basic work wardrobe for a coop student?

I have some questions about the wool pants. How much should their rise be? What kind of weave? Flannel?

Where the pants will size, if it measures say 33", I should be looking for something like incotex pants that measure 33 on the waist or should I size up to 34"?

is it acceptable to wear a solid vest with a pinstripe suit?i have a solid black vest that matches the black in one of my pinstripe suits perfectly, but i am concerned that it will still look forced an mismatched. sorry if this is a dumb question, haha. i have only recently needed to actually dress like an adult.
