Sometimes its best to ask people on the forum for advice. You'd be surprised of the advice you get

True (I certainly do the same), but if he has any serious intentions to research a possible move to DC for his field of interest, he would well advised to reach out to his alumni network.

Try state politics/lobbying. It really only works in the bigger states though. In NY for example, there are innumerable lobbyists who make six figures. Wyoming, there are probably 4.
