I just picked up Samuelsohn suits from STP during the sale and am wondering what you think about the fit as I can't decide which size to keep. The smaller one's a 40 and the larger a 42. My chest measures about around 41 though I'm about 15 pounds underweight currently on my 5'10" frame. Both jackets are new off the rack and haven't had any tailoring done yet. The 42 feels a bit looser, but otherwise both look very similiar to me. I was hoping you guys might have some more insight and an opinion on which one to keep. Thanks in advance

I would suggest a 42 because it seems that on the 40 there are some unnatural wrinkles on the sides of your arms then again that could be the postioning of your arm. Also it seems the back pinches a bit towards your shoulders on the 40. I cannot speak for the differences of length as for it is hard to see in the picture. As you know you can always get it tailored down if you choose the 42. Good luck.

I have exactly the same problem--I'm 5'10" and somewhere between a 40 and a 42. I've got mostly 40s and a couple of 42s--I've found that it depends on the suit. I look like I have broader shoulders in the 42s (which I had tailored down). The 40s, some of which are also tailored, often require that I wear tailored shirts--else they tend to bunch up under the jacket. I've been working out for the last few months, and my chest size is slowly increasing--so eventually I'll probably not be able to wear the 40s.

The 40 looks like it fits pretty well. Hard to tell, but you could probably stand to have the waist taken in somewhat.

I would say the 42 it drapes better on you, it will need some work. The 40 pulls too much in the back. too snug.

I voted for the 40.

But you say that you are about 15 Lbs. underweight.

If you put that weight back on, the 42 might be a better fit.

You ought to take that into consideration.

I like the 40. Hanging around styleforum makes you drop sizes. The key is to know when to stop.

Based on the front pictures, I don't think it's really pulling across the shoulders, but rather bunching under the collar, which can be taken up a bit - it's a pretty common alteration.

even though your 10-15lbs over weight, i think the 40 looks alot better on you. the 42 looks more baggier and not as sharp...

I'm 15 pounds underweight. My normal weight is 170 and I'm at 155 right now.
