Friends of the Whiskey Indy:

I called Alden of DC today to order some Leather Defender. Just for kicks, I asked on the status of the whiskey Indy.

I was told boot went into production in late November and the usual time until completion is 16-20 weeks.

We all know the issues with sourcing exotic shell these days, and the backlog of Alden custom orders, but based on this timelime maybe our Indys will be deliverd by Memorial day...

Alden Whiskey Shell Cordovan Wingtip Plaza Last Boot Preorder

Hey guys,

Thanks so much for all of your patience. We've formally built out the Whiskey Shell Wingtip Boot on our website, and we're accepting deposits on it now. Preorders will be open until next Saturday the 4th.
http://www.epauletshop.com/servlet/the-1366/Alden-Whiskey-Shell-Wingtip/Detail

I had a great meeting with Alden last week, and I feel very confident doing these special order projects. Arranging it through our website as such keeps it very organized for us.

In terms of lead time, I wrote the order terms to reflect the worst case and slowest scenario. We're in the top tier of Alden retailers, and we generally get very good deliveries on makeups. But, as you know, Whiskey, Ravello, and Cigar can sometimes come with very long lead times, and there's no way for me to expedite the process.

But speaking of lead times, I was quoted pretty good ones for non-shell styles. Materials like calf, suede, scotch grain, chromexcel, chamois, etc. We generally get normal shoes/boots in about 8 months and styles with handsewing (tanker boots, NST's) in around 10 months. If you're interested in something like that, we can put together a preorder quickly and most likely get delivery in the mid-to-late Fall.

Is it possible to add a 9EE for the pre-order? That was the size I had indicated on the spreadsheet. Thank you so much for putting this through for us!

Definitely getting in on this on my next payday on the 3rd... But I have NEVER tried on a plaza last and fear that a 10.5D (my size in Barrie) and an 11D (assumed Plaza size) would be too big/long. Any ideas guys?

I am a TTS 10.5D and wear a 10D in the Barrie/Trubalance. The 10.5D in the Plaza works great for me. Just one data point, but I think you should be good with a 11D if you wear a 10.5D in the Barrie.

Rock and roll, Mike!!! :slayer: Thanks so much for working with us to put this together. Its going to be an absolutely kick-ass whiskey boot. So awesome.

If anyone else is interested in a tanker boot or something like that in reserve chamois or oiled nubuck, I would be happy to be the driving force for that as well. PM me if you have any interest and I can try and organize another project.

Mike, is scotch grain shell an option? Perhaps a #8 scotch grain shell?

I honestly wear a 10.5 in just about everything and Alden is the first maker that has messed with me like this. I wish I had the option of trying on a Plaza last. The 10.5D in the barrie leaves a pretty good amount of room for me which is what makes me so nervous about an 11D Plaza. Would going with a 10.5E help me out at all? Sorry for the all the newb questions BTW.

JPFNY, great minds think alike. Either of those would be brilliant.

If Mike can round us up some #8 scotch grain, I think we have a likely makeup.

I'd love a pair of #8 scotch grain longwings on any last besides the Barrie. The Leydon would be particularly awesome. Pair that up with a commando sole and we'd have the perfect bad weather longwing.

Any interest in a snuff suede boot makeup similar to the Leffot Cooney ones with a few changes?

Absolutely, and thank you! Size 9EE should be available now.

My pleasure, and thanks to you guys for putting it together. We've streamlined everything on our side, so doing special orders like this with Alden and Carmina is a breeze. I'm looking forward to making a lot of incredible styles for you guys!

Scotch grain shell would be AMAZING. I already emailed my salesman to find out. It's in the Horween leather book, so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll let you guys know.
