Dita x TB are my favorite glasses, and by far the best I have owned. Everyone who sees them loves the style and sleek lines.
I agree with you 100% Just picked up a pair recently and they are my current favorite as well

Masunaga produce only for Kenzo Takada
Persol (type edition) is a poor copy of Masunaga
Masunaga uses beta-titanium and high quality acetate
Persol is Luxottica :( cheap made in Italy
Masunaga is made in Japan and it's the oldest eyewear company

in photo is Cutler and gross, model 1085
and Oliver Peoples clipon for OP-505

Excuse my ignorance but.. what's the difference between acetate in Persol or Oliver Peoples and Masunaga's?

And.. was having a look at Cutler and Gross prices in pounds... well, is there a place to find this cheaper? Do they have sales or anything, or old models get cheaper when they introduce a new one? I have never seen that brand in Madrid although I think there are one or two places that may sell some models by Cutler and Gross..

The acetate varies depending on the models. I have found that vintage and more limited runs of Oliver Peoples tend to be higher quality. A lot of the mass produced models tend to be more similar to Persol. For example, most of the newer frames are now produced in Italy. I would prefer the frames produced in Japan. These are made at OPtec which is the original lab which produced their frames.

Of course, there are lots of other options for quality acetate. If you like Oliver Peoples, you should also check out Garrett Leight California Optical. They have a similar vibe as OP but with a distinct modernized design. They also have a few models which are made in the USA which is certainly a rare thing in the eyewear world.

Late reply, but.. Cutler and Gross is more classic and distinctive than trendy... They don't have that high of a turnover rate for their models. I have seen them discounted before, but you can always find them on eBay.

As for the acetate, I'm not sure if Persol is using real acetate anymore. Ray-Ban at least has switched over to this injection-molded surface printed crap that breaks if you bend it and rubs off if you wear it. Higher end acetate often has more color depth, hand polishing that lasts longer than acid bath polishes, and a sturdier feel. There is good Italian acetate, but that's not most of what you'll find.

What about Linda Farrow? Dior? Some of the nicest designs I've seen are either dior or some sort of collaboration with linda farrow or maybe mykita (margiela x mykita always looks fantastic)

Hi guys, Need a hand checking the authenticity of a pair of Oliver Peoples NDG-1 from eBay. Bought them as an impulse buy and now I feel they could be fake. - I've never seen an (R) on the case next to the logo. - I've never seen the NDG-1 sunglasses model in the Storm (STRM) color - The only place I can see this model/color is AliExpress (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...ses-women-Fashion-Eyeglasses/32391959452.html) Am I just being paranoid?
If you are concerned I would take them to an authorized dealer and inquire. The first things I would look for is a shiny plaque on temple and then check the lenses for a breathe logo. But the presence of a breathe logo depends on which lenses are in the frame. The bottom line is an authentic frame feels study and well crafted, fake ones are lighter and feel cheap. Here are some pics of my storm NDG. Note mine has a custom matte finish and blue VFX lenses but it should give you an idea to compare details.

Thanks for the response

Comparing to your pics I see that the made in Japan text is different (mine all in lowercase) and my pair do not have a product code on the left arm.

Really appreciate your pics, thanks
