WHOA! Just a second. Those gorgeous brown LWB with the purple laces that you restored to former glory are 11.5B?

PICK ME! PICK ME! Yes, I’m 11.5B!

I’m interested!

I’ll PM you after the contest has all closed and they are yours. I’m going to see if they have any last details to finalize or if I can get some fancier pictures of them, etc.

Thanks all. Wish there were several contests like this throughout the year, I quite enjoyed it.

On a side note...Anyone here that can wear a 11.5B?

At the conclusion of this challenge, members can trade each other, or donate to a charity. Anything you please.

It’s hard to beleive those are the same soles you started with. Your shoes, by far, had the most difficult visible (as in not on the bottom of the shoes) sole issues of any entry here. You did an outstanding job making those soles look presentable again.

Keep in mind, you have 6 days before the official entry thread opens, so if you think they need a bit more buffing and time to settle, you’ve got just under a week.

Hi Guys:

+1 on the soles. Outstanding job of restoration.

thank you kilowatts and wasmisterfu for the kind words
will let it rest, polish and clean the sole to see where it gets.

Until then - who is interested?

I'm not entering the contest, but I am interested in learning more about restoration techniques. Is there already a thread here or elsewhere that has an outline of these steps?

Perfect, I will do that. I have a pair that I dyed dark brown a while back, but still have issues with the color coming off. Also, one pair I bought from Spoo and there's a bit of roughness on the toe cap, so I'd like to learn about sanding it smooth and refinishing. Thanks.

Thought I would share some family pics of all the Shoe Challenge shoes in their final state. AE MacNeil, two Florsheim vintage miUSA, and Haig & Dunn vcleat.

The intent was never to do 4 pair, it just happened to work out this way due to 4 ebay best offers accepted that were all basically submitted at the same time. Each shoe less than $15 (excluding shipping) - not too bad for a <$60 investment and some elbow grease. Now the hard part - picking which pair to submit!

WOW! That would be incredible! What size do you wear, maybe we can make a trade?

As someone who also entered (and will clearly not win) I urge you to enter the ugliest of the four. ;)
