It's been a long time since I've had your feeling -- what I remember most is the sense that "if it was going to end anyway, why not sooner?"

No, not especially. I just noticed that my priorities shifted - as they tend to do for every relationship - from being "me"-oriented to being "us" oriented.

Turned out I fixed all the problems by marrying a cigar-smoking, strip-club-visiting, bourbon-drinking golfer.

Keep your head up, its really hard this time of year too. But good for you for doing the right thing. Take some time to your self. I liked being single.

Sorry to hear Matt.
The whole "door/window" thing is real, though. I'm thinking '09 will be legendary for you.

This is what I am hoping as well. I broke up with my gf of 9 months yesterday, and I mostly feel like I was doing the right thing. I came to realize that, if I were to spend years in a relationship with this girl, I'd probably go insane. I just wish the breakup had been more amicable.

One thing I realized, though, is that with the three women I've dated since getting divorced a few years ago, I've broken up with all of them right about this time of year. What is it about spring? Do I realize there is so much to do that I don't want to be held back by a mediocre relationship?

Still, it's nice to just focus on myself and my daughter again...

Do any of you ever think that breaking up with a girl is not the best decision, but hopefully it will be in the long run? I'm not one to agonize over failing relationships or wait until they get really bad before ending it.
