Also, had a rather curious find today at Marshalls that I passed on but might go back and pick up if anyone is interested.

Black/white repp stripe Southwick for SHIPS tie. Woven in England, made in the USA. SHIPS is in Japan - how did this thing make it to a Marshalls in the Twin Cities?!

Interesting. I have sold some Southwick for SHIPS shirts but that is the first tie I have seen. That tie has a Brooks Brothers look to it and was probably made along side BB ties. For those of you who don't know, Brooks Brothers and Southwick are both owned by Retail Brand Alliance.

Good day today. Maybe the thrifts are getting some donations as
people get back to school. Everything below is available except for
the bills khakis:
J Crew 3 btn tan blazer. 42R. Unlined, natural shoulders. Mint.
Could be NWOT since the pockets are still basted and the pocket still
has that antitheft tag. If no one here wants it, I can fleabay it
easy:

is that they were like 50/50 linen-silk. Really soft. 35W x 32I
P1010470.jpg

Saddles button down shirt. mini blue candystripe. tagged 17 x 32/33.
P1010469.jpg

E Zegna white striped shirt with faint bwn stripes. Tagged 16.5/42
P1010472.jpg

Bills Khakis NWT flat front cords x2! Should get me some good scratch when the weather
turns colder :nodding:

Found some good stuff the last few days that I'll have to take pics of tomorrow. Highlights include size 8.5 PRL made in England (C&J?) suede shooz that I wish fit me along with siblings from probably the same donor of Loakes and Florsheim Imperial v-cleats. If you're an 8.5 and those sound interesting get at me. Also a couple HF, one just okay, and one a very recent (gray label) HF with Super 130's Loro Piana, size 40S. Also some great hats, a great silk / wool reversible dress scarf, and some Barneys wool / cashmere super 150's trousers in my size.

Met MoxC at the Goodwill near my work at lunch... He seemed to know his stuff and I noticed the cane he'd mentioned before so I asked if he was from Styleforum... Good thing he was or that would have been awkward.

Great guy, we had a good chat.

Also big shout outs to Capnwes for some awesome MOP blazer buttons, Eazy for some awesome PRL flannel pants, Highlifeman for an awesome PRL madras SC, FaceofBoh for a gorgeous Samuelsohn SC, and acosbysweater for a great Zegna tie. It's fun coming home from vacay to find a big stack of boxes waiting for you!

Thanks guys!

Can I get confirmation or "no, go back" on either of these?
I'll be back in the neighborhood tomorrow, so could pick them up if I should. Mostly I'm just surprised that there was no response at all.

I passed on both these ties today, but they were the first of either label I'd seen. (They were at consignment rather than thrift prices, or else I'd have bought them.) Are they 1. real? 2. worth enough to be worth going back for? Regardless of 1, I sorta doubt 2, but fun to ask anyway. The Versace looks like it came from the same design as the shirt a week or so ago (can't remember whose that was). FYI, the Versace has a couple of flaws that show up in the pics. They aren't terrible, but they are there.

You're right, and I'm the guy who usually tells people they need it (and imported it to "that other forum"!).

Thanks, under $5 and I would have grabbed it this afternoon, that's about what I thought. I'll leave them and their ~$30 price tags right where they hang.

nvm google is my friend and solved my problems, in the vain of picking stuff up off the ground/dumpster diving, does anyone else do that? or is that even to grimy for the thrifting crowd? I have made some good finds that are just laying around in the street, dark side of the moon on vinyl, some air force ones, and lots of designer sunglasses.

Some may frown upon it, but I've done it. Heck, I still do. Can't turn down a crate of records on the curb or vintage mid-century stuff on the side of the road. Even if I don't want it for myself or to sell, I'll bring it to the thrift store and donate it. No use in cluttering up the landfills with perfectly good items. Some people are very wasteful. I've found a lot of cool stuff this way. Got my first nice (not a dept. store made all-in-one stereo with a turntable on top) turntable from the curb. A minty Technics SL 1200. Have no idea what the guy was thinking. It looked brand new - the dust cover barely had a scratch.

West LA is awesome for curbside finds. my wife and i found a $400-500 bugaboo yuppie stroller a couple years back. it was kind of sun-faded, but mechanically it was fine. took it home, worked great. we even kept the free baby that came inside!!!

(just kidding about the baby. we didn't keep it)

nice job on the turntable! my current set up is 1/2 of a crappy dj turntable :( the only turntable I have seen in a thrift store is a crappy all in one stereo turntable. this reminds me, are there any vinyl collectors on this thread? I frequently go by rasputins in berkeley which almost always has a couple crates of free, vinyl I could hook ya'll up!

Nat, you found a 1200 sitting out on the curb?

Seriously, that's an amazing find.

Picked up a set of Lane acclaim side tables from the Lane offshoot Virginia Maid at a consignment store for $100 otd. Happy with my purchase, now I need to contact that frog for some refinishing tips.

Also got some sweet To Boot NY suede boots from Nordies Rack with one issue. They went to find the mate shoe in back and gee wiz, the mate had no f'in shoelace
ffffuuuu.gif
. Sales associate told me to see if I could find one on another pair of shoes and that I could take it. Combed the whole men's shoe racks looking for the match to no avail. Found another couple shoes from other brands that seemed to be close, so I took those( Normally I would have punted, but these were $375 boots for 49, I couldn't say no). Anyone have a good source for olive-brown toned 40 inch round boot laces? haha
