330CK: I thought opera pumps were all cemented, which would mean no nails … ? In any event, I'm well impressed.

PNutPug: That hat looks brand new (read: minimal stranger's-head grossness). That's just the sort of hat I'd do a touchdown dance if I found at Goodwill, especially if it fit. Well done.

Thanks.

An eBay and LV website check reveals that LV ties are, apparently, worth a fair amount. But not to me. Looking for swaps before cash. Thx.

Oh, and thanks to The WGP for the Park Aves — I just got 'em, polished 'em, and am very pleased with 'em. Perfect for my best friend's wedding this fall, I expect.

Last week I found a brand new pair of Allen Edmonds burgundy oxfords. Only bad part about them is they were rubber soled, but for $5 I can't complain. They're in my size, too!. :slayer:
I have a pair of Vibrams oled AE bluchers.. They are my 'go-to' shoe when I know I'm going to be on my feet on a hard surface all day. Good find. I like that. I'll be looking into it. Thanks for the heads up!
Picked up a few things today. My favorite find is these Peal & Co. Opera Pumps in incredible condition--they even still smell new. Can someone tell me who made this particular pair? The quality really is superb so I'm guessing C&J, but there is no nail pattern on the heel to help me discern.

Now to reply to all those PMs...
I'm jelly! Looks to be my size, as well.

Been sick almost all week, so haven't done as much thrifting as I normally do. I hit one place Monday, then didn't get out again until today when I hit one more. Man, didn't realize how addicted I was getting to thrifting until I skipped 4 days! Been enjoying all the great posts this week.

Had a few decent finds :

From Monday-

3x Canali shirts, 16.5 - not sure if they are going to work for me, neck size is right but sleeves a little long and shoulders a little big

AE black wingtips (not sure of model but from orthotic line-I think a discontinued model), vibram sole, my size (9), probably become my rainy day shoes...

Look really "clunky in the pic, they are somewhat but not quite as bad as the pic lol...

AE Strands in burgundy, 10D (half soles and heel have been replaced-looks like a good job , uppers in very good condition)

From today's trip:

Polo Blue Label (made in USA) Navy Blazer, tag size 41- From the same store I scored the polo suit and tweed SC last weekend, I think this was from same donor and got put out later..probably keep this one, fits really well...I'll need to find a home for the Samuelsohn navy blazer I found a week or so ago if I do...

Nordstrom Loro Piana 100% worsted camel hair sport coat, tag size 40

Hopefully I'll get out more some this weekend...was going stir crazy sitting at home the 2nd half of the week.........usually try to hit at least one store a day at lunch or after work.
Love those AE Strands. Got two pairs that I still wear 4 years later. http://gentlemansgent.blogspot.com/

It must be between Glen Morangie and Loch Lamond, Just south of Glen Garioch, and north of Macallan. About an hour drive from Glen fiddich but if you want to go from Laphroiag, you have to pass from Glen livet.

 Suddenly thirsty.....

That could feasibly pass off as a sportcoat, get it. At very least, worth $100+ on the Bay. Zegna Mainline I would leave it, but Couture, no siree, that is worth taking. Also 56 is my size ;)

Found a RLPL polo in my size at a TJ Maxx in Daytona of all places last week. It was marked the same $35 as every regular PRL polo shirt.

Non thrift store find today. I know there's a lot of cyclists on here, so I figured I'd pass on a good deal. A recent Giro bike helmet w/ visor. These are $80+ with prices well into the hundreds. I'd be happy to pass it on at cost + shipping to someone who could use it.

Details:

Model: Encinal
Date: Nov. 2002
Size: 54-61 cm

Hello, I've been reading the forums and this thread for a while and thought I would join in, although some of the items posted here so far make me think I should just give up and go back to buying stuff at the mall. I've been thrifting for a couple of months, and to paraphrase what many here have said, goddamn it's a fun addiction.

So far stuff I've found for myself includes:

Corneliani single-breasted dark grey suit with peak lapels.

Gieves and Hawkes navy chalk-stripe suit for a local bespoke/MTM shop. Discovered a small rip in the pants after purchasing, so I've taken them to a re-weaver and, well, fingers crossed.

Armani Collezioni greenish grey wool pants.

And some stuff that I liked but I know little or nothing about:

Fred Perry / Comme des garçons shirt, my size. Poor ironing and lint on the collar my bad.

Eros shirt, my size. I saw this brand in a local menswear shop but haven't found anything online. Are any of the experts here familiar with it? Did I just Christian Dior Monsiour myself?

Valentino jacket (not yet dry-cleaned), tagged EU 56 but probably EU56L, judging by the length. It's available, although Valentino doesn't seem to be particularly desired around here. Possibly an orphan, although if it is, I'm just as happy I couldn't find the pants.

Ties, (l-r) Bottega Veneta, Gieves and Hawkes, Cornelia James, Ely Limited. Not familiar with those last two brands, but they're 100% silk, made in Britain and I dig the patterns.
