Nice find on the Ahmed Jamal LPs! I've been looking for that S/T Animals LP for awhile too. I've found a couple here and there but they're always trashed. I'm jealous of that Palepoli! Let me know what you think of it!

As for a message board, I am also a member here which has a similar "finds thread" where I post:

Passed on some reasonable stuff not in my size - Valentino, Zegna, BB, etc.

I did find one curious shirt. It had no tags or labels and never had, which makes me think it was MTM for someone. Very nice lavender cotton, careful pattern matching, MOP buttons with crows-foot stitching. I tried it on and it fit me in every respect, even the shoulders, so I bought it despite having no clue what it is.

Not a bad day - hit five stores.

Façonnable black wool button down jacket 100 percent wool - NWOT - great find IMO

BB blue button down - another to add to the rotation.

Nordstrom button down - perfect condition and for $2 I'll take it.

Passed on a ton of Brooks Brothers, a pair of Allen Edmonds (10 B...horrible condition), a ton of Robert Talbott ties. My area isn't the best for finding high end items in thrift - so I take what I can get.

It's mindblowing enough that you're finding this stuff to begin with, but to find such cold weather clothing in Texas takes it to another level. I rarely find any nice outerwear up here and I'm in Minnesnowta!

I've lived in the Upper Mid West (UP of Michigan) and in Texas (Dallas). Folks in Texas IMO (especially the transplants) tend to spend a ton of cash on clothes - and will buy the warmest, most expensive jackets even though it rarely goes down below 20 degrees (unless you're in West Texas).

In Michigan I noticed people hang on to stuff a lot longer - more working class mentality - if it still works, I'm not getting rid of it.

Just my $.02.

^^^ Yeah, that makes Texas that much better in terms of thrifting. I knew the money was there but figured they's spend it on lighter outerwear. In Minnesota, most of the outerwear I find is 15+ years old. I freaked out on Friday when I out a mint, recent Vineyard Vines wool/cashmere car coat. In like 8 years of thrifting, I've only found maybe 4-5 nice outerwear pieces.

It still to this day amazes me the things that just get donated/discarded. That deerskin loro piana is listed right now on ebay. Its up to 2450 and there's still a full 24 hrs left LOL

Didn't you say that you are between jobs? That's money well needed. You should throw a deal out to some fellow SF thrifters though to keep the thrift gods appeased.

Jeeeeez! Nice job. It's amazing to see how the internet has really opened up the micro consumer market (ie one seller to one buyer). IMO it's great to see how an item can be placed in front of so many folks around the country/world and instantaneously increases the demand.
