as often as I go, and as many stores as I go to, I should be getting stuff like that. Maybe it's just not out there here or I don't look hard enough

one day i'll write a book,hehe...seriously though it might be your area or maybe just missing it,study up on vintage furniture.anything teak/rosewood or made in denmark/sweden is highly highly sought after beacuse its well made and usually ahead of its time and still looks good today.people would rather buy that then usual Ikea stuff, but you gotta have the eye for it and judging from your previous finds i know you do.

^^Also, knowledge is power. What amazes me is Frenchy's breadth of knowledge about unrelated stuff. Thrifters usually specialize in one thing or two. Hats off!

Frenchy, what part of the country do you live in?

Just curious, and envious of some of your finds.

That would go well with my set-up, period. I splurged a couple years ago and bought a NAD turntable off eBay. It's just a rebadged Rega P2. Love it!

Found an RLPL shirt for you today nataku, but didn't notice it had a tear near the cuff till just now so i'm about to return that. Grabbed a Jaegar? or something vneck lambswool vest, was made in scotland, amazing quality it feels like and there's just a small tear i'm gonna have restitched and it'll look BNWOT, probably came from a hangar or something.

Also definitely gonna sell those two Brioni's, they fit me in the shoulders but are a little large around the waist. My roommate keeps trying to get me to sell to him, but if I don't get a decent price in B&S I may just keep them and bulk up even faster than I am now. I can honestly see why someone would pay $1100 for a sweater like this, I feel like my sweaters trying to seduce me whenever I put either one of these on.

Went to VV this afternoon with with my mildly reluctant 20-something nephew. For myself, found a beautiful woven Trafalgar belt, and a black alligator grain Martin Dingman belt, both in my size, $4.99 ea. Also, two mint pairs of Traf. suspenders, half off today so only $2.50 ea., and a pair of dark purplish brown, flat front made in Italy cords, Mario's, unhemmed, $9.99.

But the best: a Brioni "Roman Style" single breasted, peaked lapel suit top, midnight blue flannel w/faint grey pinstripe, 100% wool soft as cashmere. Like new condition. Marked a 44L, fits him perfectly, even the sleeves; I mentioned that it's an orphan w/o the slacks. He said he DEF. wanted it, anyway, so I replied he could pair it with some light grey slacks, what the hell. We did look for the pants, no luck.

Also, I found him a lightweight Hickey-Freeman silk and wool sportcoat, marked 42L but also also a perfect fit, light olive windowpane.

$10 each.

The wide-eyed look on his face when he saw himself in the mirror with the Brioni on--makes me proud to be a scrounging uncle. His first two sportcoats, ever--not a bad beginning.

Some of it is clearly that Frenchy knows what he's doing with the non-clothing stuff, but I think a lot of it has to do with the area.

Yeah... like, I found a set of Teledyne AR-92 speakers the other day but the cones were shot

I'm sure I pass by some really nice stuff I'm just not aware of it. Furniture wise though, I think there is much competition.

Also, how did that storage place auction you went to back in January go? Go to any more?

So is every thrift shop packed to the brim w/ HSM, or is it just my area? They seem to account for like, 80% of the suits/SCs around here, and therefore, are slightly invisible.

its not a competition, its cool.but i think 15 like new Hermes ties beats two NWt ties haha.(this were the 8 i had left of 15)
the auctions are interesting,i go now and then but the prices get pretty outrageous, they gotta be making money because the keep bidding and coming back but its a lil too risky to my liking.i like to feel and touch what im buying and make a educated decision rather then a guess.
