What's crazy is that in the fit you posted it doesn't look outrageous in the least. Well, not to me anyway. Manton might **** his pants, but whatever. When everything else is toned down, the way you have it in the pic, it looks pretty natural.

Hahaha, well, taking pictures in my living room and actually wearing it in public are two very different things, but now you've got me thinking it might be possible. :D

For what it's worth, I got told about it too when I started following and posting in the thread last year.....see below.

BTW guys, this weekend was my Styleforum Birthday.

:embar: Surprised to see you quoted that post all over again! I think i was in a bit of a snit at the time, you've become a valued poster. ^^; BTW guys if you want those Alden for BB 763's - they are one of my favorite shoes, the only shoe I love so much I have TWO of them (neither thrifted, either, though not retail). I'm a big believer in the LHS' versatility and the unlined verson for BB is really awesome. That stamp is :slayer: every time.

Haven't really been posting lately... but I got a few things recently. Tried out a new setup/lighting with my wife's help - tell me what you guys think.

First - a vintage A&F suede jacket with PIMP lining... size 42L. This was too epic to leave - I figured in a 42L somebody else would see it that way too!

Second - epic tie finds by Ohio standards... all one store. There was nothing else in the store. :brick: Checked nearby stores and I found a pair of Alden....... calf tassel loafers... in size 10A...... with a bad through the leather nick on the toe of one shoe. :brick:

Still, I'll take these ties. Arranged L-R in order of wearability IMO... the Bizzocchi is available - it's for Louis, Boston - but the Isaias are staying in my closet.

This is the new lighting setup I was talking about... feedback, anyone? Not an ebay question, just general. :) Wife is shooting a t3i with a 24-105 f4l and lighting with an alienbees b800 for this, for you photo geeks.

I think the lighting set up is working like a dream, the ties look great in the pics.

BTW was the 763 always made with the Horween stamp inside? 2 out of the 3 in the completed listings have a stamp too.....interesting. Do yours have a stamp.

During lunch I went to a local spot that I check out regularly even though they are priced very high (featured in my previous rants). I started getting frustrated because the racks were so jam packed that you could barely part the shirts enough to see the labels. I checked 1 rack of shirts and moved on to the suits. I passed up the usual items that are nice but just too pricey, and found a lovely BB navy blazer in a unique material (pics to come) that I know I have passed up at least a half dozen times because of price, but the tag is missing this time. From my experience this is almost always a good thing, especially in this store because every single item is individually priced. I grabbed it and moved to the ties and found a t PINK, then moved to the other rack of shirts. About 3/4 the way down I find a nice Ermenegildo Zegna, grab it, and there's another next to it, and another, and another...someone cleaned out their closet. 13 in total, all with dry cleaning tags. Left 4 behind that were ugly with damaged buttons. The rest are pretty ace. They gave me the blazer with the missing price tag for about 65% off the original price, based on my estimate. The shirts were not standard GW prices, so I went for a reasonable bulk discount and she politely obliged, which took about 20% off the total of the shirts.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll let my wife know. She says I should have let her take the photos of the jacket too... she's right!

My impression is that BB has always wanted the stamp to be visible somewhere on every pair. I read somewhere a long time ago that they have a special arrangement to make it so. Sometimes it's very hard to find, I think. I can say by way of anecdote that all four pairs of Alden for BB unlined shell loafers I own have the stamp visible, and they range from VERY OLD to only a couple of years old. Macarthur would be the authority on this, if you really have questions. By the way, I wouldn't search by the model # for BB models - they're different, and not always well known / understood. Good to have for your own reference, though, for sure. Particularly handy if you have a pair you think has been shined black... seen that a few times. :brick:

If anyone has a Barney's outlet nearby, check it out ASAP.

It seems like they finally figured out to run a proper outlet store :decisions:

Looks like I figured out what I am doing this weekend

I have some Tom Ford sunglasses that are my prescription pair and I'm working with someone here to hook up with some wayfarers but I found some Ray-Ban Gatsby sunglasses. I believe these are from the late 1970s to late 1980s.

If your change your mind on these, let me know!

Should I have picked this up? I couldn't help thinking about that segment on Put This On about the loheads who gather in Midtown Manhatten, decked out in their PRL.

If it says "SNOW BEACH" on the back you must buy it. Otherwise, it doesn't look branded enough to attract any interest.

Stepped out for lunch and dropped in at two small thrift stores near my office in Bethesda. Found this sports coat at the second one:

I was tempted to take a picture of the receipt, too: $5.

This day keeps getting better and better. Wait -- I forgot about the stock market. Nevermind.
