Ran into a treasure trove of tweed today. Most of it Harris, including two three piece suits and a couple of overcoats. Both of the 3 piece suits are actually 4 piece, as they come with two pair of pants. There are also two identical pair of Harris Tweed trousers that probably had a matching coat and and vest, but they were not to be found. I haven't measured them up yet, but they don't fit me so they'll be available soon.

Bonus Thrift Fit Pic:

Was pleasantly surprised with low 50 degree weather today, so I got to add a Harris Tweed to my ensemble. I played well today, but our team came in 24th (out of 25). LOL. On the bright side, I won the best dressed player award....but it was only a verbal award. I was still happy.

Decent day.

Mint BB "hand tailored" Golden Fleece trousers. Look at the pick stitching! Fit perfectly. (Keeping)

AE 5th Street boots. Looks like they have been worn a handful of times (logo hasn't even worn off in the heel bed). Anyone an 8E? (Available)

(Dark spot from rubbing off the price.)

This thread used to be a place where people found great great things and wore them with pride or passed them at cost as favours - you might have noticed or not but I'm doing that myself with a Caruso jacket.

Nowadays it's just a joke because it reeks of niggardly greed.

"Shite jacket by some awful maker - AVAILABLE"

A true true joke.

It's still a place where people brag about their finds, and it's gotten so you have to say whether it's available or not so you don't get a hundred PMs inquiring on stuff you plan to keep.

But there's also some of what you say going on.

I'll agree with this sentiment to an extent, it has turned somewhat capitalistic. I say that because many of the (current) regulars are hobby sellers. As a result, the thread has changed to fit the needs of the participants. A lot of talk about flipping, resales, eBay, etc. are natural to the climate.

Having said that, listing something as "available" may mean that it's available at cost + shipping. It's what I write when I want to let everyone know that they can have something at a steal. Many here do not do that and they are looking at making a significant profit on their finds. It's still neat to see what they find.

I would like to see more people offer up things at cost, but it's next to impossible to think that will always be the case.
