^^^ Lol. Nothing against Rumanians or Poles. I've been to both countries and found them enjoyable.

well yeah, that is true. Some is/was made overseas and some is not. I have a very nice UK-made SC of theirs I got on a great sale in Taipei and I love it. Also a few shirts my girlfriend gave me. But Burberry has gone down this path as well... moving one of it's largest factories from Wales to China. Caused a major ruckus in the UK and even Prince Charles tried some maneuvers to block it iirc. Just one of many brands moving to Asia unfortunately.

^^^ I'm not saying that there aren't any rogue quality Aquascutum pieces lurking about, but just that I haven't found any. And its because I have never found any that the brand isn't really on my radar.

Also, re: Burberry, I see a lot of "Burberry London" shirts with a made in USA tag attached to the interior side seam. Not that "made in USA" is bad (because it definitely is not), but I still leave them.

So people can offer you things we find. If I only wore stuff I found I'd have a much more limited closet... By trading we are able to help each other out.

Three stops today netted me the following. Everything is available:

Don’t know much about these. They say “Clif” Made in Italy. Pretty much new as they have little if any wear in the heels soles. The upper leather is really soft. New old stock? Says 43 in the bottom of the sole, but I would estimate they are 9D. Anyone know this brand?




Cole Haan Made in India captoes. Again, not much wear but not as new as the ones above. Size 11D. Probably worn 1-2 times. Good for a flip.




Cole Haan Made in USA braces. The metal part actually says “solid brass” Not sure if you can tell from my pix. There is also a serial # (?)in the center where it says made in USA.


Few ties.PRL is "Made by hand." I will probably be rocking the yellow VV one around july 4th. Go USA!

so you ever get that feeling when you walk in a store... you know where something is just calling your name... then you get about halfway there and stop for some reason because you get pulled in a different direction? no? oh well...

In a store where I left a Hugo Boss suit and a Ralph Lauren previously, found a nice Oxxford suit (42R), and an even nicer Zegna (42R) too... I'm guessing someone didnt pick up their dry cleaning...

Oh the dilema... I'm a 44L, they're both 42R... grrrrrrrrr!
arrrrrrrghhhhhh! well of course I left them there for the next person... you believed me right? nope I have to admit, the thought didnt even cross my mind... bad I know... so now I have to wait til I can trade them

To make matters worse... found a Canali sportscoat in a different store... 42L... just not my day, bought it too... ho hummm...

About Aquascutum: I have a made-in-England SC, 100% cashmere in a navy herringbone that is incredible. It's very well made, looks great, feels amazing on and I probably fondle it just a little much when I get the chance to wear it. I know their recent stuff is not like the old stuff, but this is something else. It's good incentive to never grow larger than I am now, just so I can keep wearing it.

I'm not terribly sad to see them go; they've been in a downfall for a long time now. But I'll definitely keep looking for their older stuff. (I also have a macintosh that's equally well made; thick horn buttons, great buttonholes, all-around goodness. I think it was made in Baltimore.)

ETA: In fact, I'm so happy with the one I have now I just went to the bay and bought another one that happened to be sitting around with a lowish BIN. I can't wait to get it.

Looks good. I wish I had all that equipment. I'm dealing with my 5.2 mpx Sony digital with crappy white balance.

I'd vote one pic with pants as the "opener" then a series of pics without (Front on, side on, back on, closeup of lapel) and then a couple of pics of the pants (personally, I like to see the waistband both open and closed, so I can see the pleating, the lining and the amount of material to let; I also like to see a good shot of most of the trousers to see if they're sheened). But you need to pin the back of the jackets. Just use a chip clip. Or a clothes hanger. Pulls the waist of the jacket in and contours the suit. I'd also use a more neutral tie; I prefer solid blue.

Looks pretty good -- if you're going to use your couch as a backdrop, maybe use a really short depth of field?

Cool, thanks! I didn't want to tie up my plain navy tie on my mannequin, but maybe I'll see what I can find either in my huge pile of ties I've kept or at a thrift.

That is a really short depth of field... Down around an f/1.8 - f/2.2.

Unfortunately I don't have a better spot to shoot these as the setup takes a lot of space. I'll keep working on it.

I really enjoyed wearing one in particular until I was looking at it and saw that it wasn't made in the UK. Then I started noticing that A LOT of their stuff was made in Caribbean countries or otherwise developing nations. I immediately sold / traded those ties and have never picked up another Aquascutum anything. Seriously, check the country of origin when you're out - lots of "English" brands are just as ****** as anything else out there. That's also the reason why I don't pick up TM Lewin or Thomas Pink shirts anymore - I think they're all made in Romania now anyway.

I have a mac coat and a trench coat that were made in England, very quality items (both 100% cotton) I was very careful to make sure they were made in England though.

Not wrong... The jacket is a 2011 model. And it's made in Columbia.

Welcome to the new Patagonia... The other synchilla I have listed is vintage and made in the USA.
