Gonna take my first foray onto the bay today, got a few things left over that I haven't traded here and I don't think too many people would be interested in. Wondering if anyone's got some general advice about listings or anything. I've listed a few things before, but it seems like people don't just do like a .99 auction NR with clothes as it is with a lot of other things. I'm gonna throw up this Pendleton and possibly a Canali shirt and see how they do before I put too mcuh else on I guess.

If you are running 7 day auctions, start the 8-9pm EST on a Sunday. It has been documented (and just look at any of the big sellers) that it is the best time to end an auction. That being said 99 cent NR is very risky, unless you KNOW that it will have a bunch of people bidding and bidding early, something like a 36S Brioni suit for example (how I wish someone would post one on ebay at any price really). I personally like to use BINOBO listings for 30 days. They cost 20 cents each and if your in no rush just list it and forget about it. Without running 99 cent auctions, you'll go through a few bucks just listing the stuff each time if it does not sell. I'm sure some other "auction style" guys will chime in shortly. Good luck!

Just been running some auctions for a couple weeks, what Brian says I can agree with, if it's a hot item you should get a lot of bidders. Best one so far for me was the Stefano Ricci shirt that I started at $39. BIN for $99. First bid was $40, next was $50.05 and then a third bidder hit the BIN for $99. I think the draw back of the auction system is the end time, people are going to wait until the last moment to try and get the last bid in. Went to the Barrett-Jackson Car auction and watched them auction off a $4.5 million dollar car, the bidding stays open until no more bids, which is more like the BIN with "Or best offer". I don't know if eBay has that type of format where the bidding will stay open for X amount of time after each bid, but I know it would benefit the sellers.

I listed a HSM gold trumpeter blazer for $29 auction BIN $79, ended yesterday no bids, re listed as BIN $29 or best offer and somebody bought it within 5 minutes.

Ebay does not have this option to extend time after each bid.

As always all, that for giving me a bit to think about and some help. Unfortunately I leave for Europe next week so I may either wait to list them or do that BIN option and see what happens.

this is also the exact thing that I am lurking for.  given your stature and tenure on SF I will assume the back-seat role on this one :). look forward to seeing what you come up with, however.

Shame, I passed an HF with LP cloth navy at 42 bc it was pleated. I am sure it's gone now. I will keep eyes open.

Authenticity check please. A member has expressed an interest and I'm not an expert by any means.
Thanks in advance for the help

WTB: I'm on the lookout for a basic suit (solid gray or navy) in 42R, good quality (mid-light weight, nothing fancy, Brooks Bros, Hickey, etc.) for a friend of mine. It needs to be in great shape, no issues, enough length in hem and sleeves to alter. He's new to used clothing, and I don't want to spook him. PM me with details if you turn one up.

Need to alter how much longer?

Crockett and Jones "Marston" 9.5 E (UK) loafers. Faint scratch on the left toe. Should be manageable with a little polish.

I picked these up today. PRL Ankle Boots and it reads : "Est. 1967 - Benchmade in Maine" on the footbed. They are similiar to Vintage Ralph Lauren Leather Polo Country Boot, but are different. Can anyone help me identify these???

Edit: Actually PMed, don't wanna clutter the thread, so I'll use this post to once again reiterate the fact that I have claimed title to RL round these parts. Been had polo.

How does one lay claim to brands? I'd like to claim Oxxford, Kiton, Isaia, and Brioni please...
