The last week's worth of finds:

Harris Tweed with nice contrast leather buttons.

'Nother Harris Tweed

Polo Ralph Lauren made in Italy (that's the Cornliani tag, right?) cashmere wool blend

This was kind of interesting - patch pockets with no flap, wool/cashmere blend fabric by Zegna for Coppley

Some ties - Lands End Viyella, BB, BB, BB

Zegna, Stefano Ricci (my first), Zegna x2

Vineyard Vines, Viyella, BB x2

Chipp x2, Andover Shop, Paul Frederick for me.

Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme shirt - good kop?

Luciano Barbera

pretty solid Ben Silver

Is Paul and Shark a good pickup for flip? My favorite spot has a DB sportcoat by them, made in Italy, but I don't know if its worth the effort.

Spoo...I think there's one in Bethlehem PA....what's that, like 1.25 hour drive down 78....might be worth the trip if you love it that much...

Right on the border of Bethlehem and Hellertown. But yes, off 78. Also, don't give anyone the stink eye, as it's still legal there to beat you to near death for it. As a native, I have to warn the out-of-towners.

Hey everyone, I just came back from Goodwill. In the book section, I saw a book called "how to tell if an item is worth a flip using eBay completed listings."

Does anybody know if it's worth a flip?

Picked up a few items today:

Brooks Brothers Camelhair Sportcoat in my size (43L):

Never heard of Gaetno Scuderi before, but made for Barney's so figured it was worth a buck. Tag is in the spoiler if anyone wants to guess at the maker.

And a drumroll please....

.....

No dynamite, but I've been looking for a tux for a while.. Saw this orphan tux jacket with nice pick stitching all over it. Thick fabric, double vent, and hoping it is a 43-44L...

Nope.. it is a 41L, but after I look at the label, thinking maybe I'll be glad to lose 20 pounds for it!

Great shape everywhere except for the bottom of the liner on 1/3 of the coat. It is absolutely destroyed.. Any ideas short of finding a donor liner? For $5, I couldn't leave it behind.

More details in here including a a sewn on strap to keep the two vents from flapping in the wind.. kinda cool.. Never seen that before.

Here's the elastic strap between the two vents:

More little holes, but not like that huge one just to the left...

Doesn't seem like moths would only hit a 3" x 15 " section of the coat, does it? Almost looks like it just disintegrated or something... Sigh... If I were 20 lbs lighter, I'd gladly wear it as-is... of course, I'd have to find some pants too...

Wow, I hope that wasn't directed at my last post. I mean, if I had 5-10 posts on the forum and was asking that, I'd deserve it. But the item I was referring to, a Paul & Shark db blazer, made in Italy, didn't have any comparables when I checked completed listings on the bay, so I thought I'd ask the most knowledgable folks I know for some friendly advice. My bad.

Question for everyone. I constantly see 3000 tie pictures in peoples finds.

I understand Hermes, Drakes and some of the other top notch ones are an easy huge profit flip.

But from my experience, while the Brooks Brothers, Armani, Vineyard Vines, Zegna are good quality, they usually have trouble flipping for double digits on Ebay.
So do you guys generally just buy them for your own collection or am I missing something?

I don't sell a lot of ties for the same reasons you mentioned. I do still pick up decent ties to give as gifts to buyers who use the BIN option on my suit/sport coat listings.

I kinda collect them. I've probably got over 200 now, and while I occasionally bundle up several to sell on the bay (or flip any Hermes or comparable to fund the habit) generally I hold onto them.

It's not always about flipping. Most of us are building wardrobes.

Also we are all jealous of and competing again this guy:

What do I think? It's a pretty cool looking jacket made by St. Andrews...Not much to go on.

Yes, that's the tag for Corn. Also, Paul & Shark is a brag worthy find. No idea how they do on eBay. I would cop if the price is right then try my luck on the bay.

It's a damn shame there's no pants. My Tom James has that vent strap. That's a pretty cool touch.
