I'm sure Jazan the Puss is going to troll me endlessly, but here is a shot of the side. This is a bookcase I built for my hallway a long time ago and have recently touched up and refinished with oil.

I know I started another thread on this, but this is probably the better place to ask. I want to get something besides the ubiquitous Eames lounge chair (and/or Womb or whatever). Something under $7K, designed in the last 10 years, and statement but not flashy. Any recs along those lines?

And who makes the sling chairs in this Roman and Williams pic (that has been posted in this thread at least 3 times already)?

That was sort of the goal, to get people to move beyond MCM a bit and into more recent stuff (we already have Eames DSW chairs around the table, a Milo Baughman recliner, and maybe adding some Kaare Klint safari chairs, so that is enough MCM for anybody). The Autoban is great, saw it at De La Espada a while ago. Usually Hudson stuff is crazy expensive, so I haven't bothered to look at the Suit, but may do so.

I was disappointed in the Matthew Hilton Low Lounge chair, it just lacked that flair that he normally gives stuff (like the Fin chair which I love):

But I do like the Desiron Bedford...

Maybe not... was thinking about this piece from the New Traditionalists

Which is sort of an off-kilter classic styled piece - but the problem being we want to keep it a certain level of lightness that is often difficult to find in older furniture

Those just look like chairs that are trying to be mid century modern, not that are emerging from any shell. Kind of like somebody painting colorfield art this year. Except for the Hudson and the Inch which are just godawful.

I'd probably say that MCM doesn't have a monopoly on natural wood and fabrics, and there is some influence, but it isn't inappropriate.

How are they not simply derivative? There is no commentary, no new materials, no new form. If anything, they are, as SG said, a step backward, which is aesthetically fine, but they all seem to belong to the sad milieu of interior desecrators rather than any interesting movement in design.
