Try calling one of their stores and asking for measurements.

Shoe noob question - how hard is Dainite? I am a recent convert to good shoes and want to buy something with a sturdy and bad-weather-ready sole as a commuter shoe. In my previous existence as a Shoe Heathen, I became accustomed to the softness and comfort of rubber-soled Ecco and Bostonian shoes, and am curious as to how much flex and "give" a Dainite sole has.

Thanks,
Harry

can anyone recommend a good casual-looking Allen Edmonds shoe? Oxford style, I guess? I want something casual to wear with jeans and chinos. Everything on the website looks too shiny and dressy for me to pull of with casual clothes.

edit: and I should say that their offerings under the 'casual' heading are totally gross. I'm open to other brands as well.

Compared to typical rubber soles Dainite is pretty stiff. It's also a bit treacherous on icy sidewalks. It's well suited to mud, however! So, unless you're looking for a shoe to use while tromping across your estate, take a look at commando-style soles instead. They have a bit more flex than Dainite (still stiffer than Ecco soles, however), and have great traction on ice and snow.

Hi everyone

I bought a pair of Church's 3 weeks ago and was a bit lazy with using my shoe trees. I've been wearing this pair probably every other day and as you can see from the photos below there are several creases/bulges in the leather. I am now using my shoe trees but need some advice how to 'repair' the shoes and also keep them fro getting these creases in the future. The guy at Church's said I need to 'start again' to get them back to normal but don't know specifically what he meant.

Please advise!

Thanks a lot,

Quick question. I bought a trousers, the hip fits but the length is not. I had to fix it.
It is a suit trousers. Should I cut it or just seam it?

It is best to be specific around here.

Do you want Double-faced Links, Chain links, Snap on, Push-through, or Hinged back links?

I would go with Silk knots. I do not know where to find them. Good question/post.

It depends what kind of trousers they are. If they don't have a lining you can probably just turn them up, although if you are uncomfortable taking a needle and thread to your trousers a lot of places do alterations.

Here is a quick guide. http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-turn-up-trousers

If they are lined, I would recomend taking them to get professionally altered, around here it dosen't cost very much in the scheme of a good fit.

Hope that helps.

Anyone ever use sno-seal on a shell-cordovan #8 ultimate indy? Or similar leather? I was wondering how it would effect the coloring?

I just found a bunch of nice ties including some Ferragamos, Zegnas and a bunch of Hugo Boss. The problem is appears the guy kept them tied and just loosened them after him wore them and kept like that in his closet. What the best way to get the wrinkles out and straighten out the inside lining?

Looking for a place that sells dress shirts (especially looking for a tuxedo style shirt) with a small neck for my son. They measured him at a 13, not sure if they go that low in men's, but somewhere in that ballpark. Thanks.
