What one tailor would you choose for your suit, for your shirt, what cobbler for your shoes?

Pretend you had Bill Gates's money for a day.

Rubinacci, Kabbaz, Lobb Paris.

Henry Stewart-tailor, Jules Holden-shirts, Roman Vaingauz-cobbler. Though the first two are dead, I assume that fact could be somewhat influenced with 50 billion dollars.

Suits -- Corvato (I love Letterman's silhouettes) Shirts -- Ricky Ho, with Alex Kabbaz a close second. Shoes -- ?

Based purely on reputation, and my perception of their style... Lattanzi for shoes, Alex Kabbaz for shirts. Can't think of one for suits - Darren Beaman, perhaps? Do Borrelli do full bespoke? Maybe one of those lesser-known Neopolitan workships... But if I had Bill Gates money, I'd just walk around in public in boxer shorts. Whenever I encountered another person, I'd hurl a wad of hundred-dollar bills at their head and scream, "You. Imagine me in a fabulous suit of clothes. Do it NOW."

I would go buy a couple suits from Helmut Lang, a couple from Martin Margiela, a couple from Dior Homme, a couple really weird ones from Comme des Garcon, a couple D&G... a ton of shirts from said designers (probably mostly Margiela).. I do not have taste for a "tailor" really, but oh, the things I would buy if there was no recourse (i.e. guilt of having spent thousands on essentially unnecessary items).

Well, in Gates' case the (software) Emperor would have no clothes. Jon.

Don't know about clothes, but I would build a huge amphitheatre dedicated to the culinary arts, stocking it with the best chefs the world has to offer, daring them to invent new dishes for my jaded palate and pitting them against chefs from all over the world... wait, never mind.

One is not enough, but I think at the end I would choose:

Suits: Kiton Bespoke - the Neapolitan cut is perfect for my body type, but I would have them cut the suits / sports coats in more of an English manner, a sort of fusing of both styles.

Shirts: Alexander Kabbaz - not just because of the quality of the shirts themselves, but also for the experience, the personalized service that he affords you, and mostly because after several direct / indirect conversations with him on the forum I think I would feel comfortable talking to him about any issue that was on my mind that particular day, regardless if it is regarding shirts or not and he would provide ample discourse (I tend to have a similar relationship with my tailor, it is partly the reason I go there, excellent quality notwithstanding).

Shoes: oh, man this is a hard choice, I guess I'll have just have to choose one from my short list (GJ Cleverley, Edward Green, Lobb London / Lobb Paris, Laszlo Vass) at the end I would have to go for GJ Cleverley Bespoke - they were the first ultra-high-end shoemaker that I learned about in this particular segment of the market, they were for lack of a better term, introductory. They have always been well spoken for. I think I could not go wrong calling upon their services. Their shoemakers are world class masters and are among their best in the art of shoemaking.

Ties: Kiton - just because I know their 7-folds are world class, although there are many fine makers out there...

Suits I would go with Huntsman & Sons. Shirts Kabbaz. Shoes I suppose Lobb and Berluti concurrently. What about Ties I would pick Marinella. Yet if I was able I doubt I could limit myself to any set number of artisans not as long as I continue to enjoy clothes.

With that kind of enormous wealth, buying the best suits/shirts/shoes is no more interesting than a daily chore. Luxurious or branded products mean nothing anymore as I can buy them all up as and when I feel like and I can throw them all away the morning I wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Afterall, I don't need to have it, I just need to know that "I can".

Sometimes, things are more desirable or interesting when you can't afford a lot of it and I would prefer it that way.

With Bill Gates money, think some of our Traditional-American followers could buy and resurrect the Brooks Brothers of old.

I have heard about Matuozzo. But I have never seen their shirts anywhere in Europe. Well Italy probably but i've never been shopping there.

They are supposed to be better than Borrelli's i've heard?
