Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2016 - News, Pictures, Sizing, Accessories, Clothing, etc - Page 466

post #6976 of 17737

Was at the Los Angeles store yesterday (quite an awesome day which I will go into more detail later), and the store manager pointed out that he had the same heel slip problem with his Clark's.  He showed me if I tie them like this at the top, it will stop the slippage.  It works!  No more heel slip at all, and the shoes feel perfect.

Ask and ye shall receive.  Really bummed I didn't pick these up in walnut shell when it was available.  Also blue, green, and dark brown.  And shark.

Beautiful shoes, however I am curious... is it the picture or is it really darker on the toe cap and sides in relation to the rest of the shoe? I really like the contrast I see in the picture. That and I am trying to make the shell push.

the fifth ave is on the 5 last right? considering a pair of these myself.

Yes, the toe cap and quarters are darker in outside light than the vamp and eye stays. But they look closer in color inside. One of the beauties of shell.

Stupidly I rationalized that as bad on length and instep as they were, the unlined would make them work, so I ordered 2 pairs of 1sts, tan & blue (77 each) and returned the blue. I don't care how inexpensive these were, this was a real bad idea. They feel too short, bad for instep, and you're 100% right - the sole is just plain weird, like too soft and too flexible for my taste. Hey I'm entitled to f up once in a while.

The SI fits very similar to Concord Ave, maybe a little narrower in the toe box and the vamp sits even lower. If the fit wasn't right with the Concord Ave, the SI is going to be even trickier, I am afraid. If they won't order in for you to the store, why don't you just order online and return if they don't fit?

@lobster 33

By "Los Angeles
store" do you mean the Allen-Edmonds store in the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa in Orange County?
