Hey guys, I am new here.

I am a 19 year old university student, and I am in need of new shoes!! Which one of these two would you guys recommend?? Or do you have better choices??

Shoe 1:

Shoe 2:

http://www.royalelastics.com/cgi-bin...x&pid=0454:067

I'm going to wearing my shoes with jeans of this color, bootcut or not depending on what shoe I buy:

Neither

Have a look at the "what are you wearing today" and "shoe p0rn" threads for some ideas. Too many options to recommend with the amount of info you volunteered...

it seems that this forum does not fit your niche. you may want to check out sites like niketalk.com or honesforum.net for people with tastes more similar to yours. SF doesn't generally approve of the kinds of shoes you posted because they are any combination of the following: tacky, over-priced, hyped, bad quality, and trendy.

How can you guys like shoes from the seventies? Do you guys care at all about what women would think of them?

i'm not sure what you mean by this. there are many apparel items that are classics because they've survived the "test of time." just as one example out of the plethora i could name, converse chucks are a classic sneaker that's been around for a long time and looks great. this is in addition to being very versatile, fitting the needs of quite a large spectrum of styles and tastes. they're worn by rockers, rappers, nordstrom models, bums, douchebags, designers, the fashionably conscious, etc. edit: there are obviously many different tastes of styles out there, and if you like these shoes, don't let me stop you from buying them. all i said was that they were not worth the money in terms of style, quality or value. if you have girl friends who appreciate that niche of style, then more power to you. if you want to stick around and search/read through a few threads, you'll see that there are shoes which are a lot better in many ways, of which the reasons have been discussed ad nausem on this forum. otherwise, the 2 forums i recommended are for the more trendy crowd, and could most certainly help you out. if you decide you like the SF niche of quality and value, then stick around, you'll learn plenty! oh, and lastly, click through the what i wore today threads in streetwear forum if you want to see examples of how people on SF dress!

But would you think women would find wearing such old model shoes attractive? Especially at a university setting??

What could be more old and unattractive than the fugly checkerboard thing you posted, which is a nearly perfect knock-off of an MC Hammer era British Knights shoe with a hunk of black leather stapled to the top?

i'm a student at the university of washington in seattle. chucks are DEFINITELY the most popular sneakers on campus. i have visited a number of UC campuses and this also seems to be the case. my brother says over at the john's hopkins campus it is also like this. with that in mind, i would have to say ever so conclusively, a resounding yes.

I'm a college kid, and that stuff you posted up would not fly. You can never go wrong with Converse. And if your basing your buying decisions on whether or not you think a girl will dig it, then clothes aren't going to help you bro. Buy what you want because of what you like, not because of what you think some other person will like.

Your attitude and confidence will get you more chicks than any shoes anyone's going to suggest for you. Work on those first if you're only in it for the girls imo.

I say neither. They both are unflattering and overpriced.

Try some adidas samba's. They are inexpensive, classic, and comfortable. I will also suggest sperry topsiders. I don't really know what other advice to give. If you don't like chucks you probably won't like vans or jack purcells which are pretty much the go-to shoes around these parts.

As always... The real question is what is your goal with this purchase as well with the thread you opened. Did you ask for SF members' suggestions because you believe guys here know men's style and could help you improve your own style, or you are just interested in what girls find attractive. I can tell from my humble experience that girls find the most attractive when you are confident with your style and things you're wearing. So, whatever your goal is, my suggestion is listen to guys here in matters of style and clothing choices as they really care about the subject and therefore know a lot about it.
