It's getting colder out, so Ken is starting to wear the same thing he wore everyday last fall: his blue button-up, his trusty vest, and me!

Me and Ken have been together for a little over a year. I was born in Japan and didn't know too many people in Chicago, but Ken was real nice. He had a van full of Gum Drops and Junior Mints, and all I had to do was sit between his legs! Here's a picture of us when we first met!

On an average night, Ken takes me out to the hippest hangouts in town and drinks lots of iced tea in short little glasses. Usually it's just me and him hanging out for the first couple of hours. He likes to get there early!

Every once in a while his phone will ring, and then some other people come and say "Hey, how long you been here?" and Ken says "Just a couple minutes," probably because he doesn't want them to know how much fun we've been having without them! Then we talk to We Like Vans models!

Lots of times Ken spends time on the floor. It's OK unless it happens the day after I had a bath, because I only get one every couple of months. To make up for it, he shares his iced tea with me!

That's about it! Then we go home, always just the two of us even though Ken asks lots of girls to come with. One time a girl got in the truck with us, but left when Ken gave her back some of the iced tea he drank earlier. That's OK, I'll take it!

Ken's an OK guy. I admit I don't always get him--like when he uses his left hand to unbutton me and says "Hello, there, stranger"... but there's nobody there but us!--but we fit together like peas and pods. For now. He's getting a little too fat for me. Eventually, he'll probably grow out of me, just like everyone else, and then cry about it when we don't grow with him. Oh well, thanks for listening!

Oh yeah, I also made an appearance on the inside of his hiphop project. We sold 8 copies! I'm famous!

samurai

here are my samurai s0500xx aka samurai contest jeans. where to begin really, these are almost a year old, almost everyday of wear. They've traveled to and from the west coast, and have been all over the east coast. When I first got these, they were really slubby, and now there are no rouge knots, just smooth denim. The hole near the crotch is due to the creasing that occured when I only wore these after a soak, and not a true wash. There are 2 bigger holes in the back pocket due to my red moon wallet and the button hole that is apparent in most of my jeans now. The red tab is completely ripped off, as is the arcs (which is why i don't really care about arcs/tabs on samurais). This story is concerning the first time I met another forum member (superfuture member mcflip) ever in real life.

my buddy is in a band that played a show up in philly, i called him around 6 to see what time they played, he said 9:30ish so I rolled up to Johnny Brenda's at 9:30 and they're in the middle of their set so I only end up seeing them for like 10 minutes. I head over to the bar and order a yard's philly pale ale, which is very delicious for only $3, and I turn around to find my buddy as he's breaking down his set as I hear...

"are those the contest samurais?"

I have to kind of double take as no one has ever asked me about my jeans before other than my brother, and I say

"yeah they are"

the guy says....

"superfuture??"

and I sheepishly reply yes....

We ended up talking shop for a little while, to the obvious dismay of his girlfriend....

thats funny
being in NYC, I sometimes feel that Ive seen some people who post on SUFU

wearin vans dry jeans or someshit

ive seen people in lw hoodies and wondered if they were from here or sufu but didnt really bother to ask

Here I have my good ol Helmut Lang jeans. I bought them off of eBay new for like $44 three or four years ago. The first time I tried them on I wasn't too impressed because the fabric was really stiff and a little coarse(nothing like my awesome Diesel jeans that I was accustomed to buying) Anyway, I wore these jeans and a pair of one wash Replay jeans for about two years straight. These have probably been washed a dozen or so times... I have some fond memories while wearing these jeans. I wore these to two of our fashion shows in town. Here is a very small pic, but it is all I can get, from our first show. It didn't turn out like we wanted it exactly. We were going for some next-level Antwerpian minimalist mind-blowing presentation, which didn't work, but it was still fun. I also wore these jeans in the picture of me wearing what is now the Whodini jacket that really got us going... (i can't find that picture though. i think i deleted from the server.)

Long famed for being "one of the only pairs of jeans on Styleforum that look like someone's actually, you know, worn them", they've now been pulled from the line, and are rotated in mostly when comfort or a looser-than-normal silhouette demands, usually not more than once a week.

They are almost two years old, though they have a little less than a year of "normal" wear--they have to share me with other jeans, more exotic jeans. Japanese jeans. French jeans. They may not be as sexy as some of the others, but they're comfortable and reliable. These are the jeans you bring home to meet your parents. They've been used and abused. They are patched in two areas near the crotch, where frequent cycling wore through the denim. They have ripped in two places on the back right pocket, one from an unfortunately sharp wallet, the other from my keys, which are usually attached to a belt loop with a carabiner and sitting in the back pocket.

They are bicoastal.

They started life in Washington, DC, at Denim Bar. They live in Philadelphia. They have traveled to Boston, New York, Richmond, Dallas, Houston, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. They are go-to travel jeans. They fly well. They hike well. They rock-climbed well, once. They want to go skydiving, but they're saving up the money.

Once, they were bootcut. But they had an operation.

They know they'll never be popular with the cool kids at Superfuture, and they're okay with that.

They are kind and gentle with babies and animals. They are vicious and merciless with evil-doers. And they want your vote.

PRPS new fit everyone has a pair of these. the unwanted child, the mistake you never intended to have. That's the story of my PRPS. It hasn't traveled anywhere other than from my home to the lab i work at experimenting with the -pox and herpes virus (so these pair of jeans are probably infected, many times over) but they've evolved from the bastard step-child of my samurai's to the favorite son. quite an evolution.... over memorial day I walked into the philly store deepsleep. I started chatting up the SA, we were shooting the **** for a while, and I really really want to support stores like deepsleep in philly, because i realize a store like deepsleep or any "boutique" in philly is taking a huge risk financially. I usually find something like a t-shirt or something else small to buy to show my support. They had just got sugarcane stuff, but having not found a pair that fit my non-childbearing hips, I kept browsing. I ultimately just pick these up and look them up and down and decide to bring them to the fitting room to give it a shot (thinking I would be swimming in them like the Evisu's they had). To my complete surprise, they fit great. The thigh being a little tight, but decent enough. So i take them off and put them on the shelf again...and continue browsing.....the store is small so i end up looking at the same **** over and over again. I pick these up again and go back into the fitting room (i'm the only one there...so it must have been kind of weird for joey...) I decide i like the fit even more the second time around, but having tried to stand strong on my "NO MORE DENIM" rule, I decided to pass on them...and was about to walk out the door when the SA says everything in the store is 25% off. ERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so I walk out with a pair of PRPS new fit jeans. They basically sat in my closet for a bit as I was still focusing on the samurai contest jeans, hence the bastard son comparison. But these have become my favorites. I really don't wear my samurai contest jeans anymore, they're basically devoid of indigo now, so these have taken it's place as the #1 son. I wear these close to everyday for the last couple months...
