Anybody else notice that dollar sank like a brick today? I (luckily) placed an order this morning before the dollar sank two cents.

I think it's time to cash out our chips before it keeps dropping.

It's probably not done dropping yet, if the FX people I've spoken with today are to be believed. Makes it difficult to order from U.S. stores when you're paying a 20% currency tax.

Don't hold your breath. Especially if the US raises rates later this year. Pretty much done with ordering from the US for now.....bonus may be the Euro dropping like a stone on Wednesday, which makes that trade easier.

Hello all Torontonians,

It seems that I've been scammed by a store/Ebay flipper that is based in Toronto (From what I can gather). Since I'm in Europe, and pretty much SOL, is there anything one can do, like reporting the fraud to local Police? Or will that go straight in the bin?

Said scammer seems to have 30-60 items (suits) on Ebay at any given moment, so I'm sure some of you have seen the seller before. Even a member here on SF (I won't go into user name right now, as I the paypal case is still pending, but I don't have much faith in that one).

Read about cases like this on another forum on down jackets. Basically local police cant do much if it's a one off case.

However, since ebay is so heavily favoured towards buyers, maybe you can try to get them to help you out.

I hope you are covered, depending on when and what transactions you made. Time to keep our $ here or Europe as that won't be too significant like the US conv.

I needed a tux before NYE, and this was a week before Christmas. Seller wrote in the auction that he/she could end it earlier if the item was needed for a certain date/event. I send a message asking for the BIN price, and we agree. Seller then sends me paypal address on a attached picture, and requested money as a gift/paypal (hence why I'm screwed).

Did a search for the seller, and couldn't really find anything that screamed scammer. Good feedback, has been flipping menswear on multiple websites for 3 years.

As soon as I send the money, the seller stops answering. When I asked if the item was shipped, I got a "Yeah, thanks.", and that's it. I've sent 5 emails and a couple of Ebay messages since then, but no dice. Only got a auto-reply on Email saying that he/she is on vacation.

I check out the Ebay page, and see that the seller has been posting ads throughout January. So much for being away on vacation.

The shipping was 150$ UPS Express, with 3-5 day delivery, and we get notification whenever something ends up in customs.

A pretty expensive lesson learned(650$ in total), yes...but I absolutely refuse to give in to a low-life scammer like that.
