Not a huge fan of their customer service. Shouldn't have to wear a suit into the place to get respect. I buy from the vendors now.

i buy from the vendors mainly on the MTO aspect. As much as I'd like to support local business, the makeups they carry just isn't my cup of tea. Still go there to buy shoecare stuff though, just more convenient.
Good to know re: Meermin. I get the sense we have the same sense of relative quality, so I'll take your recommendation. Meermin is off the too-consider list. I'd still like to see more of Scarosso; I think they are new though, started sometime late 2013 by MBA students is the story I think.

Completely agree. I was looking to get a pair of Carmina for this winter, but I left it a little bit too long and was getting gun-shy about the price. I'm for sure going to get something for next year.

And J. Fitzpatrick - now there are some shoes to lust over. I should figure out sizing in these and give his stuff a try.

Bang for the buck it really is hard to beat Carminas I think, especially if you can find a makeup (MTO or RTW) that catches your eye, absolutely no brainer.

I thank you! My credit card, however, does not.

Do the J. Fitz's fit TTS? I'm a pretty regular 10 in most brands these days.

Pretty much. They're a bit slim though . ugh trust me it's been a serious exercise in self control.

hmm been wanted to drop by, and I'm not a usual "suit" guy. Might have to reconsider and besides they seem to be very low on my sizing. All the more reason to
shop my other vendor sources as well.

we're not talking about leatherfoot here are we?

I've been in a number of times... have made small purchases, and always dressed casually. the one young dude who works there has always been friendly and chatty.

when i have a need to upgrade the shoe stock this is where i'll be going.

I've been in twice with cash in hand to purchase a pair of shoes and both times was put off by the service. The first time I actually asked if they had a J Fitzpatrick model in or were expecting to get it in so I could place an order and all I got was "uhhh maybe, check back in two months", didn't even check the computer or anything, and the second time I couldn't even get anyone to help. I have been in to get cleaning supplies now and then and they've been quite accommodating, however it just happens that both times I went in looking to actually buy I got some snarky service which in my book means I keep my $700 to myself.

Well, I hope that's not the case when I go. I would give everyone the chance to experience it themselves, could have caught the SA on a bad day, or pre-occupied mentally. We all have them...

Was looking forward to going in and getting my first pair of Carmina or Alden this spring. They are clearing out models online now.
I'm temped to just buy those Single Monk Tan suedes right now...

They have quite a few models under $400. If you are in the 7's or 10's UK seems like there is a lot of options. Sadly the Noix Wholecut isn't in my size. Love that shoe.

And from the AE that I've handled, I don't think Meermin is lacking in terms of quality between the two.

I'd rate them fairly even in quality. I own several pairs of AE, and no Meermin (didn't have my size in the shop). I would also agree that Meermin is capable of a much better looking shoe, but worse in some cases too. I've seen some remarkably poor QC from both.

I've never received anything less than top notch service from Leatherfoot.

Same here. They did call to let me know about some MTM event they were having one time. The hard sell stuff put me off a bit.

So made the stop by Leatherfoot today and was disappointed. ONLY because the shoe (Carmina light brown single monk strap) that was available earlier in the week and on sale, was sold. :) If the buyer happens to be on this forum and has buyers remorse, you know where I am.
Unfortunately their online photos showed it being a lot lighter in colour, while in reality it was the perfect shade of brown, otherwise would have went sooner.
Alas, day late dollar short. Next time.
And there will be a next time, SA seemed like a friendly and nice enough guy, and willing to chat for a brief moment. There are some decent prices if you fit the ends of the spectrum though. The new shipment will be later in March I was told.

I'd like one or two pairs of straight captoes by Carmina or possibly J.Fitz... Will they order those in my size and is there an additional charge if they do?

doesn't hurt to call them and ask. They might have some coming in the next shipment. Seeing as it isn't MTO there shouldn't be any upcharge I would think.

Have been to LeatherFoot once to buy some saphir and I found the young guy inside pretty welcoming and enthusiastic. I am so glad we are finally getting some decent footwear options here. I hate seeing a guy doing pretty well from the ankles up only to look down and see a hideous pair of black square toes from ALDO. There are so many more options than even five years ago.
