Suggestions for decent quality shorter length tee's?

Yes, I've done a search and it was not particularly fruitful, so that's out of the way. Obviously you SW&D hipsters wear a lot of tee's and I would think you'd have a fairly broad experience for fits.

Backround: 5' 7", about 150 lbs, not one of your waifish, scrawny types so carrying a little extra weight around the middle. 38-40 suit size w/ 18" shoulders, 42" chest, 39" waist; wear 31" New Standards, though stretched out to about 35" (man those things are like elastic bands). Have been wearing Am. Apparel 2001 med's for years and just bought a new batch. To be honest, I don't remember how the old ones fit initially vs. how much they've either shrunken or stretched out, but I like the way they've ended up after multiple washings over a period of 8 yrs or so. This new batch, in initial unwashed form, are like a good 3" longer in the body, about 1/2" narrower in the shoulder and 1" narrower thru the body. Sucks. I can't imagine these will shrink/stretch to fit the configuration of the older batch.

So, what brand would you suggest that would provide a fairly relaxed, though not sloppy fit, in a shorter length, post conventional warm water washing. Prefer 100% cotton, and also decent color selection. Decent quality is of course a given.

Come to think of it, why not list the measurements of the old AA t's, whose fit I'm fairly happy with:

post wash: shoulder- 16.5-17", body- 19.5", length (from top of back collar)- 24-26"*, sleeve- 7.5"

post wear: shoulder- 17.5", body- 20.5", length- same, sleeve- same.

*note: heather grey seem to run a little longer in body (fabric difference I assume?)

Any suggestions? Also, if there's a thread for most anal posts (quality, not quantity) please sign me up.
