I enjoyed the last few pages....I hope those who have not been around too long take the time to read through it.

I have quite enjoyed (and learned quite a lot from) a number of opinionated discussions on some threads recently. They've been good discussions, as well as great ways to find specific things to search the history of SF for...

So I have to say: thanks for discussing this stuff out in the open, it's great fun to read and learn from so many perspectives!

I was hoping that someone knew the solution to my recent Styleforum problem. (See my last post).

How can I click on a "Thumb" without the "Give A Reputation" thing appearing?  This started yesterday.  I want to be able to give "thumbs" like I used to be able to do without having to give someone a "reputation".

I have looked at the Styleforum FAQs, and there is no mention (that I can find) about "reputations" or any way to contact Styleforum HQ to get a solution to my problem.

Thank you......

Adding a comment is optional, so 'Add to reputation' can still be like giving a simple thumbs up. I agree that the new thing is rather cumbersome and the choice of words is awkward at best. OTOH, giving someone a thumbs up is adding to that person's reputation as well...

Just my .02 I think it's cumbersome too. I just like to give thumbs!

It's just an easy way to thumb and say something like "nice tie" without having to post. Of course you can still do both, but now you have that option.

Edit: Is the tie green?

It was not what i'm looking for, but thanks you. Next time, i'll try to take a full pic. The tie is olive green.

This.  And to be serious, "reputation" is the common term that's been used on internet forums forever.  To "rep" someone is vernacular that's about 15-20 years old at this point.
