i am not a rap connosieur by any means but i dig on Immortal Technique...

"The voice of racism preaching the gospel is devilish
A fake church called the prophet Muhammad a terrorist
Forgetting God is not a religion, but a spiritual bond
And Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the Qu'ran
They bombed innocent people, tryin' to murder Saddam
When you gave him those chemical weapons to go to war with Iran
This is the information that they hold back from Peter Jennings
Cause Condoleeza Rice is just a new age Sally Hemmings
I break it down with critical language and spiritual anguish
The Judas I hang with, the guilt of betraying Christ
You murdered and stole his religion, and painting him white
Translated in psychologically tainted philosophy
Conservative political right wing, ideology
Glued together sloppily, the blasphemy of a nation
Got my back to the wall, cause I'm facin' assassination
Guantanamo Bay, federal incarceration
How could this be, the land of the free, home of the brave?
Indigenous holocaust, and the home of the slaves
Corporate America, dancin' offbeat to the rhythm
You really think this country, never sponsored terrorism?
Human rights violations, we continue the saga
El Savador and the contras in Nicaragua
And on top of that, you still wanna take me to prison
Just cause I won't trade humanity for patriotism"

It was caught on a security camera. Some to-dvd docu about his life that came out ~2 yrs ago had the footage on it, with the blessing of his widow.

Also, you ever heard those 2-3 songs where Pun either didn't use punch-ins or it wasn't edited, so you could hear him taking huge breaths and all the fat flapping in his throat sounded so disgusting as he wheezed in air? There is one posse cut in particular I am thinking of, maybe with KRS-one on it, from about 1996-97.

ok, lets put it like this: Pitbull does not have a single track that comes close to this one. not lyrically, not flow or delivery wise. for me personally, not beat wise either.

Big Pun - Dream Shatterer / video

Ay-yo I shatter dreams like Jordan, assault and batter your team
Your squadron'll be barred from rap like Adam & Eve from the garden
I'm carvin' my initials on your forehead
So every night before bed you see the "BP" shine off the board head
Reverse that, I curse at the first wack ***** with the worst rap
Cuz he ain't worth jack
hit 'em with a thousand pounds of pressure per slap
Make his whole body jerk back, watch the earth crack
hand him his purse back
I'm the first Latin rapper to baffle your skull
Master the flow, ****** be swearin' I'm blacker than coal
Like Nat King, I be rapping and tounge's packing
The ones, magnums, cannons and gatling guns
It's Big Pun! The one and only son of Tony...Montana
You ain't promised manana in the rotten manzana
C'mon-pana we need more rhymers
feel the marijuana snake bite anaconda
A man of honour wouldn't wanna try to match my persona
Sometimes rhymin' I blow my own mind like Nirvana
Comma, and go the whole nine like Madonna
Go try to find another rhymer with my kinda gramma

I'm pure adrenaline, uncut, straight to your gut, medicine
Raw cure for pain I coat your brain like polyurathane
Simple and plain, I'll explain it in layman terms
If you came to learn how to make fire, I'm-a make it burn!
Higher and hotter than lava this scholar
is 'bout just as smart as MacGyver
To put honor inside the heart of a lion
revolved in a life of crime (crime!)
**** it I like the shine (shine!), Up in the white and lime (lime!)
Comes with the pipe design
Plushed out! (No doubt!) Both pockets about to bust out
If you not in it for the spinach, GET THE **** OUT!
Take a hike, we can even battle to make it right
Go 'head lace the mic, you finished? Say good night...
Head to head in the street, I'll leave you dead in your feet
Settlin' beef, I'll even let you rhyme to the Benjamin beat
But it won't matter, you dreams still gon' shatter
It's a long ladder to climb and mine is on the stagger
So get outta town, 'fore I hit you
with the loudest sound you ever heard
Desert bird player you outta bounds

You know Pun will dis you if your whole steez is unofficial
I'll come and get you and let the desert eez tounge kiss you
With one pistol and two clips, I'll make your crew do flips
Like acrobatics, I'm charismatic, my gat is magic
It makes rappers disappear, whipser in your ear
Crystal clear, come here, let me kiss your tears
Everything you fear is here, you ain't got to search further
The first murder's the worst now I thirst further for reverse birth
Every verse hurts, every curse word's already more offending
Than Eddie Murph's worst
I thirst for blood like a vampire, any man claimin' his game's tighter
IS A GOD DAMN LIAR!
I set 'em on fire, retire your train of thought
Drain a quart of blood out your brain and leave you insane in the dark
The king of New York! Lays his crown in the Boogie Down
And sprays the town, with a Mac hoodied down
I'm no joke! (Yuh!!) I soak your face with a sweeper
Dying disgrace, I'll face your death through the speaker

Its hard to explain how my squad can harbor the strain
of being the name in rap, since the all mighty Kane
acknowledge the fame, my call was to reighn the streets
from harlem to queens, back to the bronx who fathered the dream
started this thing called rap, where i reighn supreme, my team
regardles of that, i've seen things as far as the crack
that'll make the hardest largest artist heart just collaps
i'm part of all that thats why its so hard to go back
and start from scratch
im locked and im trapped, in a giant cage
trying to savor these few dying days
i have left, to the form of flesh, should i lie in my grave
i'm trying to persuede, my motto is to be be brave
and not give death the satisfaction of seeing me dying afraid
thats why i rise from the grave singing church songs like
i was jesus christ pa-rum-pum-pum-pum

Til my last breath i'll have death before dishonor
and welcome drama, with open arms and a code of honor
my whole persona equals that of gods
defining matters hard all before you even had a job
i'll stab and rob you if i have to, **** it i'll blast you
tell the devil it was pun if he ask you
and let him know how we be deadin em, show him my emblem
the toom stone , the throne, every millenium
a child is born that can perform at a level beyond
the expected four minute thirth second song
we reighn supreme, my team be all up in your dream
with the kill anything grill, chilling beside the guilotine
executioner style, black suit and a smile
who's next to get their neck hacked loose in the crown
move from the aisle, dont make me have to prove that i'm wild
word to cuban, my crew killers, y'all ****** shoot in the clouds
(who's in the house) punisher straight from hellhouse
whos's in the (terror squad mother****er we the real)
what the deal, now you know that's how we roll
hard core like B.O. , bring the corns baby boy

Pun had his share of crappy tracks, but its undeniable that he could definately spit properly.
the half minute part of his on Twinz already wipes out anything Pitbull has ever put out:

Ready for war joe, how you wanna blow they spot
I know these dirty cops that'll get us in if we murder some ***
Hop in your hummer, the punisher's ready; meet me at beatles'
With noodles, we'll do this dude while he's slurpin spaghetti
Everybody kiss the ****in floor, joey crack, buck em all
If they move, noodles shoot that ****in whore
Dead in the middle of little italy little did we know
That we riddled some middleman who didn't do diddily
nothing personal but this is starting to remind me of something Lupe said..

Dude, had 3 mainstream albums, and all your giving me is 2 songs that may be deemed feasible. Pun has always struck me as overrated, and to be considered a good rapper, one must also be able perform well on stage, without the addition of studio equipment. As for beats, that's a matter of opinion, but I think Pits "Get it Poppin" remix, is hot.

Have you actually listened to Pit, personally I think content wise, he is better than Pun. Don't judge by the club songs, you need check out songs like: "Raindrops", "El Mariel", or "Blood is Thicker Than Water"

Yeah, at the Beacon but I just listen to rap (along with other styles of music like country, Big and Rich rock and Carrie Underwood's "think before he cheats" is just awesome

), I rarely if ever go to live shows. Last two memorable shows I saw were Garth Brooks at Central Park (jesus that was like 20 years ago!) and The Boss doing a song outdoors for the MTV awards some years back.

In the last year??? How about the last 10 years. What happened to the likes of rappers/lyricists like Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Ultramagnetic MC's ("your head is triangle, like a mango... something I snack on. A soft duck, something I smack on"). Even the two white dudes from Third Base are better than most today.

I do agree that PitBull is a good rapper. I think he has made a lot of bad songs but is still a good lyricists. I never cared about Pun enougth to listen to anything he had to say as I foung his voice screetchy and annoying. Two gentlemen, among many, that would never see a penny of my earnings go to them as a CD purchase or a download are Jim Jones and Uncle Murder (and Joel Ortiz and JR Writer and a host of others). They just consistently put out amazing garbage.

Uncle Murder is ok, I like him he reminds me of a less talented mixtape 50 Cent. I think J.R is a rather good lyricist he just can't make a song to save his life. Have you ever heard Stop & Go.
