Hi Gents,

Still building a wardrobe.

I have the key basic suits - navy blue, grey and charcoal. I also have a navy blue blazer and a grey wool jacket - fall weight.

My question is what are good ideas for the next fall/winter jacket? I almost purchased a charcoal flannel one recently but wonder if I should get a more tweed, perhaps brown one? I may wear this on the weekends, too, so it isnt mean to be a formal work jacket.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I'd go brown tweed. Corduroy an option too. I don't love the charcoal odd jacket, but some do.

Where are you wearing these jackets? I like brown tweed as a possibility. Charcoal is hard to use as an odd jacket. A lighter grey tweed would be my replacement for that. Don't forget patterns. I'm personally on a plaid kick myself to round out my sportcoat lineup.

I don't think corduroy is a good next option if you want versatility. If you literally just want to wear it on the weekend as more of a casual throw on jacket, then I guess it's ok. But if you plan to wear it to work, only if you are a professor.

Thanks for the solid advice.

Tweed brown or tweed with some pattern sounds good.

I would wear it at work with or without tie (as we are business casual) when I want to be a bit dressier.

And maybe when out on the town.
