Light brown shoes with light grey suit in the summer

I work in finance but inside I am definitely not a "formal suit person" - don't like navy and dark grey. Prefer light grey, grey striped or royal blue suits which let me feel more relaxed.

Do you think light brown shoes are ok with a light grey suit in hot summer days? This color heats up much less than black

If you can get away with the light grey suit, then those shoes are a fine choice to pair them with. Have you considered a similar color/style in a balmoral, though? I think that would really make them shine with that grey suit. I guess I'm basically describing the AE Strand in walnut (which is a little overhyped in online circles, but still relatively unknown outside of them). If you want something a bit less common, how about the AE McAllister in walnut (or something like it)?

Slightly orange and quite shiny could be rather distracting. A duller version of light brown would be safer.

I ran across this post because I'm lining my wardrobe up for tomorrow. I really feel like pushing the boundary a little and was going to wear a lighter grey faintly striped suit with an off-white dusky rose shirt and yellow tie.

I have now idea how it will turn out but these cap-toe shoes were on my mind. I feel like I'm gambling already but what are your thoughts?

Those shoes are not very nice, and slip-ons are not really suitable with a suit.

Nonsense. We're talking about a light grey suit in summer, not conservative business dress for an interview. The colour of the shoes in the original post is perfectly fine and they're not "shiny" they're just well polished. As mentioned, oxfords might be better than derbys, but that's the only issue I have with them.

I agree, I think the walnut looks good with a light suit. I have AE Hale's in Chili and am not sure if they really work yet or it crosses the line into "look at my shoes!" territory.

I usually wear them with a darker grey like this (not my pic)

but the suit I have in mind is lighter like this and I'm just not sold yet.

But to the OP, I think a walnut brown looks great with certain grey suits.

A general principle of style is that footwear should not be the most attention-getting part of the outfit. If a bright, summery tie wear worn with the shoes depicted, then they would be okay. Still, they're going to be noticed, and if worn often, that's not necessarily positive.

Style Forum biased perspective. Brown shoes are becoming more popular in the real world, but the first pair of shoes still would be considered fancy by most.
